It's more than a joke. I don't believe for a second Harden took less money to stay with Clippers. Harden is getting extra somewhere. Is it some sort of "endorsement deals" and other extra benefits the kind Uncle Dennis asked for. NBA's version of NIL. Who's going to question that?

FVV get overpaid by a team that had too much cap room to use though, so that kinda makes his contract not really about his true value as a player.

Harden on the other hand isn't a guy that has given the best front office experiences for teams recently but also has few teams who he wants that want him. If he simply wanted as much money as possible and didn't care he could have found it somewhere.

True, but important to add that he didn’t get the contract he wanted so took a one year prove-it offer that was less than he could’ve gotten.
