Imagine being a 2nd tax apron team with this joke of a roster that the Lakers have :lol:

That team is at best a 10th seed and that's assuming Lebron and AD stay healthy. Atleast teams like the Timberwolves and Celtics can say that they a Championship cailber roster and Suns can they can atleast say that they a chance of making a deep playoff run.

If he wanted to take a paycut to help the team, he'd have to take a $40M/year deal to take them under the 2nd apron (assuming they use the nontaxpayer MLE before signing Lebron), a smaller paycut wouldnt move the needle for them. That's a significant paycut he didnt seem willing to take.
