Good move IMO. Interested to see his comments now that he went back to Mama.

Probably where he shoulda went last season after he was bought out.

But good in him, hopefully he has a solid 2nd stint with the Mavs.

Guy sucks now and he has a huge ego. This better not eat into Hardy's minutes.

Hardy will battle Grimes for the scorer role off the bench that Hardaway filled for the Mavs. Spencer will battle Exum for the backup point guard/ball handler spot for when Luka sits or Irving misses time. You know Irving will miss time throughout the season with nagging injuries. This is a decent move by the Mavs. He will be better in Dallas than he was in LA last year.

So much backcourt defense on this roster! How are opponents going to score against this gauntlet of fury?

Dinwiddie is talented, just not talented enough to play the role that suits his skill set. Dinwiddie gives you one thing: off-the dribble shot creation. He gets downhill, operates well in the pick & roll, and is capable of making all kinds of playmaking reads and tough shots.

He just doesn't do it well enough. Zero track record of Dinwiddie being an efficient offensive player. We've seen him in big roles and small. In a big role he can put up numbers, but needs so many possessions to do so. In a smaller role, he's not a good enough shooter (33% on career 3-pointers). He's okay at shooting wide-open 3s (40% over the past 3 years), but really bad at pull ups (31%). This sucks because he loves shooting pull ups and seems less enthusiastic about catch & shoot looks. His defense is also straight up bad in basically every way.

He's an extra ball handler who can soak up possessions if your team is super desperate. I don't see what role he can play on a good offensive team. He's injury insurance for Dallas. He's also 30-years old so it's time to stop waiting for him to get better at anything.

He will start in the backcourt when Irving misses time with injuries and he will get plenty of open 3 point attempts playing alongside Luka. The Mavs have 2 shotblocking centers and good defensive forwards/wings like Washington, Naji, and Grimes. Dallas is a good spot for him. I think he will thrive again like he did a couple years ago.

I agree it's a good spot for him. He's fine as injury insurance. I don't see him as part of the rotation when Dallas is healthy.

Thought he'd play better with the Lakers coming back home but unfortunately just didn't work out. DAL is a good landing spot with familiarity already.

Kidd got Spencer's user manual. His shooting percentage tanks when guarded, but he is pretty good on open 3s and not afraid of the moment. Once a supposed franchise player after all.

Exum was really good defender for Mavs then they have Grimes and Naji.

Oh man. Dallas keeps making bad moves in my opinion. First it was Klay, now Spencer... They don't need any of those guys. Surround Luka and Irving with defense, defense, defense... they'll find it out on offense as long as the others don't suck too much.

He was azz for us even on a minimum , ppl blame darvin but dude was the one out there bricking wide open 3's. With Gabe healthy he was redundant, however still pretty sloppy from Pelinka to not even have a roster spot open ..player options to Reddish , Hayes is awful

I think either him or Exum will get something like 8-10 minutes a game maybe. Depends on opponent, do they need offense (Hardy/Grimes) or do they need another ball handler on the court to create some looks for PJ and others. Exum pushed the pace last year which created some easy baskets in transition. Luka likes to slow the pace down and play half court offense. I think Spencer can do both. I think he will play better with Luka than Irving but we will see. Exum was solid last year but got hurt, missed alot of time, and was a non factor in the playoffs.
