Barkley, Giannis, Karl Malone, KG, Dirk

I feel like all of these guys are in the top 25. Although Giannis still might be top 30 with his most recent injury history IMO

KG
Dirk
Malone (the player, not the person)
Giannis
Barkley

Giannis could pass Malone if he continues playing like this for a few more years.. Maybe Dirk as well. The rest of it is pretty set in stone for me.

Malone and Barkley, IMO, are the only true PF's on this list.

KG, Dirk, and Giannis were/are able to play multiple positions at a level of athleticism that was not common in the late 80's and into the 90's.

Sure, but tbf, position wasn't mentioned, right? And even if it was, Barkley played both forward spots at points in his career.

Are you saying he does not belong in a comparison with the other guys in the poll?

If so... can you explain?

No he's not. Think about that list. If winning is a big priority(as it should be)then 3 out of 5 have a ring.

Giannis is still kind of young so he is a wait and see. That leaves KG and Dirk for me. Both have 1 ring. Offensively, they put up similar numbers, but KG was clearly a better defender and rebounder. Most people cite Dirks title run, but he had the right pieces around him.

Personally, I voted KG because I value defense. Something a lot of people here don't care about.

No idea your age. And Dirk played until he couldn't move at all due to his injuries. But Dirk in his 20's? Super athletic. Go watch highlights. Reason he played SF initially. And he was grabbing rebounds and taking it full court and yamming it on guys on the regular.

Old man Dirk settled into a skill game, but make no mistake this was an athlete. Not comparing him to Chuck or Mailman as their athleticism is so different. But he was a very good athlete for a 7 footer.

White guys can be athletic too.

Dirk
KG
Giannis
Chuck
Malone

- Giannis could move up as his career isnt over yet.
- Malone Im totally bias against. I should just erase his name from my list.

I remember draft night when Dirk was traded for Tractor Trailor just fine. We're talking about Chuck...280 pounds of flab flying through the air and dislodging and throwing around half the league with his glute strength. And Karl Malone who looks like a body builder before the mass monster era who just happened to play basketball...

You must not be that aware though. Or you wouldn't be questioning it. :D Because he absolutely takes no back seat to them as a functional NBA athlete. Obviously he doesn't have their brute strength and they don't have his length or skill. But in terms of running and playing above the rim? Stamina? Change of direction? Deceleration? Dirk holds up just fine in his 20's. A really, really good athlete for a 7 foot tall man.

Really really good doesn't hold up to Malone or Chuck...Philly Chuck was something else.

Who among these had a dominant Finals and subsequent Championship run?

Giannis - check
Dirk - check
Barkley - no
Malone - no
KG - check

Between Giannis, Dirk, and KG the most impressive chip has to be Dirks. I’ll put Nowitzki at the top for this season (Giannis could get another ring feasibly, which would leapfrog Dirk and KG without question IMO)

Between Giannis and KG, I think Giannis has demonstrated a higher peak as a 2 time MVP and a nutty FMVP. KG won with a pretty loaded team - Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo as his teammates in their primes

Dirk, KG, Giannis. In the three champions, Dirk had superior range and alpha ability, KG was a top +/- guy and defensive anchor, Giannis had good 2 way ability but needs to watch his health.

Karl Malone, Barkley. Malone posted great all time numbers, and Barkley is probably last on the list, probably still top 25 all time though.
