Kinda how I see it as well. Time will tell whether it's good for the game though. I like having different leagues with different overall styles and strategies. I hope that doesn't change

If this happens, we should have to monitor Mirotic’s mental state though.

Your politicians may turn a blind eye to the nba acting as a mob, being sorta comunist, going against freedom of market, violating antitrust laws etc.

I like it in principle. Not sure how players would feel about the extra travel on a regular basis or whether these would be a separate tournament or whether it would be a mix like the in-season cup.

There was a Euro coach recently who challenged I think the Cs for true World Champion status, well we may be a step or two closer to getting just that and finding out.

This I don't even see as that much of a problem. The NFL Europe was pretty successfull with a few adapted rules. The question is more what they actually want to do. I highly doubt they will make some European expansion teams.

I don't think there would be much interest for some new league with generally created franchises. In a lot of countries the fan base is related to the team itself, meaning fans support f. e. the football and the basketball team, so they won't just become Belgrad Barons or Istanbul Sultans fans all over sudden because the NBA is behind it.

Especially if it basically means that the teams will consist of players that a normal NBA team wouldn't sign, because those players wind up in the European leagues already anyhow.

What I could imagine is that there are more NBA games in general in Europe and to turn these games in a regular tournament. Like making a Eurocup for NBA teams instead of the ingame tournament. Do it before the regular season starts. To a smaller extend that's already happening in some European football leagues like the Bundesliga. The 5 best placed teams and the DFB cup winner from the previous season play in a one game playoff format against each other. You could even turn this in some intercontintental cup. Have 4 Euroleague teams participate and 4 NBA teams. Might also be some motivation for NBA players to not lose against the teams with less talented players.

Interesting to see if the Euro league maximum of 2 Americans per team applies. Can't believe the NBA would stand for that crap.

Invite Euro teams to the In Season Tournament, now THAT would be something that brings excitement. I am sure Euroleague teams wouldn't mind that prize pool, and incentivize them even more by offering them money to participate.

What is the incentive for the NBA to do this though? Unless they own these invited teams there's just no point in "sharing the wealth" so to speak. It will make for an interesting development at a competitive standpoint but there is no plus side for the league (unless they have a "buy-in" of sort to join those tourneys. LOL)

The game would profit so much if it was the other way around, except for the 3 point line distance.

If it is a tournament, they should emulate what "The Basketball Tournament" annual event does.
