US women should not be starting Gray or Taursi. Neither should be in the rotation and it’s really hurting the team. They may be able to keep overcoming those starts, but it’s a handicap.

Surprise surprise -- they're letting the OGs start and get their gold medal. Getting the legacy treatment

Nice to see the USA Women's team get their shot back. They should steamroll competition if they keep it up.

Watching 3x3 while knowing how low quality the product really has me questioning my life choices. I hope they either change the eligibility rules or just cut the event entirely.

I remain adamant that, while Steph Curry is exponentially a better player, the team would have been better adding Josh Hart. Derrick White effect. 5 alphas on the floor that need the ball simply doesn't work as well as having some grind/hustle players that compliment LeBron/KD/Tatum/etc.

Interesting that we have same/similar odds across all QF games (except for the US of course):
Greece +7.5 vs Germany
Australia +7.5 vs Serbia
France +7.5 vs Canada
Brazil +26.5 vs USA

That's describes entire Olympics for Mens basketball in a nutshell. The US is the outlier and the rest of the next tier of teams are roughly on the same level.

Yes, Germany, Serbia and Canada are coin toss teams for me, all around the same level. Too bad for Serbia, they will have to play USA in semis if they are there, I feel that, when Lithuania was still good, draw ALWAYS had us playing USA in semis, 2004 being probably the only exception I can remember.

Someone recently said that USA is kinda bad for basketball, and I always thought kind off the same thing. It would be more interesting if USA wasn't such head and shoulders favorite, it would be more like Football, I think FIFA is always more interesting, not just because sport is far bigger, but also there never such overwhelming favorite, you never know who will win. Not like USA will win for sure here, but it would be shocking if they fumble this.

Serbia rematch in semis should be fun tho, I do believe Serbia would give a better fight second time around. But I don't know, Embiid probably wont be as bad again, he really played for Serbia in that first match, he was brutal. But speaking of quarterfinals, I would probably bet Brazil here, point differential doesn't matter anymore, and not like USA was counting that to begin with, but still, to win by 27 is a lot, if they get 15 point lead they probably take the foot off the gas, I think Brazil covers this.

Canada and Germany are, to me, closer to the US than to the rest of the pack. Both teams’ players have more familiarity with one another and while Canada has better talent than Germany, the Germans are probably the team with the highest level of cohesiveness and thus teamplay, while their NBA guys in particular are performing very well.

With that being said, we should beat them but highly depending on the coaching staff‘s tactical decision but also pending a hot shooting night for one of the teams coinciding with a cold shooting night for the us, anything can happen.

While Serbia and Australia are not to be underestimated as well, I think we match up better with them.

Sleep-walking against anybody at this stage will be punished nonetheless.

Fun fact: The US are 3-0 but just 1-2 against the spread-- owing to them not really "on" for the entire game against South Sudan and Puerto Rico (curiously, the weaker teams). The only game they concinvicingly covered was against elite team Serbia...
