All things boomers basketball!
How does everyone feel about our performance?
Positives and negatives of our campaign?
Thoughts on the future?
Who are the young players coming through and which veterans remain?
3 youngers I can think of coming through are
7’3 Zikasky, Toohey & Furphy

I'm sure the team had medal 'hopes' but realistically this is a logical place for them to be knocked out. Maybe semi finals. They are in a weird place for the next 10 years working out how Dyson and Giddey can co-exist. I wouldn't really want both those guys on court together for long stretches but their games will grow I'm sure.
I'll always wonder how good they'd be if Simmons reached his potential and Kyrie chose Australia over America.
Aussie ball is in a good place, hopefully more hyped prospects come and do their pre-NBA in Australia and help boost the local audience.

A healthy Simmons at the power forward position instead of Nick Kay would have made a massive difference in terms of defence, rebounding, inside scoring, passing, athleticism and matching up with the elite big guys ie Giannis, jokic

This was my thoughts a few days ago after the Greece game.
Wasn’t feeling confident in an Aussie medal tbh, feels like they’re between good teams at the moment.
A few more promising future NBA guys in the pipeline like Dash Daniels (2026 draft), Johnny Furphy (Pacers, 2024 35th pick), Rocko Zikarsy, Alex Toohey, and I’ll get in early here - Roman Siulepa.
…..
If Australia was an NBA team, they would be prime to make package trades. Plenty of good to really good FIBA guys, but missing that guy to take it to the next level. Patty filled the role brilliantly over his international career, but it just felt like they needed another star to be true perennial medal threats. Hopefully Giddey’s development keeps going strong with more usage in Chicago
Goorj stepped down today, which is good.

I think a change of direction and new coaching style will be refreshing. Gorj did his best but def time for something different.
Spot on we are missing that one all-star to bring it all together

Why? Both on the floor we played our best basketball, Daniels was terrific defensively while Giddy was also good
Fell apart at hard pressure and lack of natural PG's, Giddy would rather give the ball off and be that secondary creator.
Lack of a guy to really bang was the issue, Landale and Reath just didnt have the size to match up on Jokic, Literally nobody could cover Giannis so far
Green was super disapointing. Having maybe Proctor 5 years in the future if he develops, having a high level PG who can take care of the ball would of really helped us

I’m really going to miss Patty playing for the Boomers.

This is really just an oxymoron these days.

Dyson and Giddey are promising. Boomers will be fine, probably a bronze medal threat for every Olympics going forward.

I just see them both as 'glue guys' and overlapping a lot as far as skill set goes. I'm happy to be proven wrong with time though

Threat maybe, but we really lack a star scorer.

They don’t overlap at all Giddeys strength is rebounding, pushing the ball and finding the open man while being a bit weak on the defensive end.
Dysons strength on the other hand is point of attack defence. He will guard the other teams lead guard. He is developing on the offensive end but has a lot of work to do to become a lead guard on offence.

Neither garner much respect as shooters, neither have much real iso scoring potential, both are quasi point forwards.... I'm just saying if I was building a team and had one of them.... I wouldn't be looking at the other as a trade/signing target.

Dash Daniels, Indy Cotton or Ryder Cheeseman
Maybe one of these guys steps up

Daniels shot 38% from 3 and Giddey 40% your talking about real iso scoring potential...buddy you REALLY don't understand international basketball.

Personally, won't miss Mills or the structure that gave him the green light to chuck away. Just not my style of ball...

FIBA Patty Mills will not be forgotten, everytime he got it going he was looking like prime Steph Curry. Just like in yesterday's game also.
