night & day difference between Ham as a coach.. lakers offense looked lost plenty of times last 2 seasons..

Lakers looked like they were always going into their sets or specific plays, never just making it up as they went like was common last year. Big reason for the minimal turnovers and consistent good shots even if they didn’t go in at a good rate.

Yeah it’s just one game but if you look at the process instead of the results that can fluctuate, it’s incredibly encouraging.

I would go as far as to say that he has cemented the COY with this masterful performance. Just hand him the trophy tomorrow, he deserves it!

Being able to draw up plays and get guys to execute is only part of coaching. I think there are alot of assistant coaches around the league who study film all day with that ability. How does he lead this team through adversity, how does he motivate them during a losing streak, how does he handle playing guys at the end of the bench when his starters miss time due to injury....that will determine how good of a coach he is.

i cannot deny, the Lakers looked well coached last night for the half I was awake for. The defense looked real too.

I like JJ, I just don’t want him to be blamed or fired if they don't win the championship this year. He’s a first time coach, not sure if he needed that stress with added pressure.

I would go as far as to say that he is a puppet and this still Lebron team.

To beat Minnesota after going 5-30 from 3PT is more impressive than it looks.

If the Celtics repeat as a dominating 1 seed spamming 3s with Mazulla ball, I think he gets it unless there’s a big come-from-nowhere type of team. People didn’t really take him serious last year so there will be an overcorrection of heaping praise on him now to “correct” the doubt last year.

It's early but there was A LOT to like...

1. No more iso ball from LeBron where the other four guys just stand around, we're running actual sets. Some beautiful ATO plays as well and timely use of timeouts to prevent any shifts in momentum.

2. Big takeaway on defense is that we are no longer playing drop coverage. We put bodies on shooters and forced the Wolves to finish in the paint against our size. Also liked that he mixed up the defensive coverages and we didn't trot out three guard lineups. Not necessarily sold on Hayes, but the two big look was also interesting to see.

3. I'm encouraged that we won a game with abysmal shooting. Good thing is we have a guy who is an expert in that area and can alleviate some of those problems by drawing up cleaner looks for our shooters.

4. Overall it's just refreshing to see a guy who is engaged from start to finish. Whether it was coaching guys up or being in the officials' ears, he was present, as opposed to his predecessor who quite literally just stood around with hands in his pocket because he was clueless.

i will believe when they play the playoffs against the stupid nuggets and when they are winning by the half then go and win the stupid games and eliminate them instead of losing two series in a row where they were up at the half in ALL of the stupid games ( and up at the beggining of the 4th in most).
