Was looking at KD's stats in the aggregate and wondered what all the experts here thought about his all time ranking at this point...
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/duranke01.htmlFew highlights:
--29/8/4 in 170 playoff games. 29.4 PPG is 4th in NBA history in the playoffs.
-1 MVP, 6 Top 5's in MVP voting.
-2 FMVPs.
--10th all time in PER (RS), 13th all time (PS).
--10th all time in BPM (RS), 12th all time (PS).
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HWQLTqFcJdJJNvMFDAwikJXujuh75uajUPrE0eF2XXc/edit?gid=0#gid=0(KD was ranked 23rd greatest player of all time in our last 2 Top 100 Projects).
So...where do you think KD ranks all time?
And, why?
Thank you, everyone!

10-25 tier is too broad, update the options with a smaller tiers in that range

only my suggestion bro, but I don’t think anyone can make a real case for top 5 (and they will likely have some explaining to do if they think he is!) so perhaps:
6-10
11-13
14-16
17-19
20-22
23-25
25-30
Outside Top 30

Just outside the top 10, maybe pushing top 10 even.
He's below Lebron, Kareem, Duncan, Shaq, probably Jordan I guess, Magic, probably Bird maybe, KG, Curry and Hakeem. That's 10 guys, he has a case over maybe a few of them, but probably he's in that next group with Giannis, Jokic, K.Malone, etc.

I think he's in that 17 - 19 range. You're really splitting hairs from 11-20 though. The rings do help him but only slightly because without them he's basically in the same tier as Adrian Dantley, George Gervin and Dominique Wilkins i.e. all scorers that didn't win one. But he DOES have them so they count for something. I think he's in that Barkley, Karl Malone, and KG tier.

Makes perfect sense. Thanks for explaining.

He won 2 rings joining the Warriors super team. I don't put much weight in those rings. They have won with Barnes before him and Wiggins after him. He has played with other great players with limited success (apart the finals with OKC). So i do not think he has been particularly successful. On the other hand when you watch him on a game he is on and he is hitting everything being 6''11 he is so impressive and he has the longevity going for him. I think he is an amazing scorer but not elite in any other aspect of his game as the truly greats are.
I put him in the 17-19 range
From current players I have Lebron, Curry, Jokic, Giannis ahead of him already. I expect Wemby and Doncic will also pass him if they stay healthy

Behind Mikan and somewhere around Pettit if you're not into recency bias. 20th range.

Better at basketball than quite a few players above him in legacy and career rankings.

People ahead of him for sure (sort of in order imo) --
MJ
Lebron
Kareem
Magic
Bird
Russell
Kobe
Duncan
Shaq
Hakeem
Steph
It's at this point that I think the conversation begins for ranking him. His peers are guys like Barkley, Dirk, Moses, Joker, Giannis, Robertson, Erving, maybe a couple others. if I had won a title of two with his own team and not hopped on a bandwagon, I think he could have been little bit closer to the Hakeem/Duncan/Steph tier. I'd put him about 13-19, most likely landing close to 15ih. He's close to the top ten on a lot of key stats and has done his fair share of winning and proven himself to be a winning player even if he didn't win titles on his "own" teams.
