Are the Timberwolves a top 6 team in the West?

Post#1 » by karmew32 » Sun Nov 24, 2024 6:45 pm

IMO they're not top 6. The Thunder, Nuggets, Mavs, Warriors, Suns, and Lakers are all better. They really shot themselves in the foot with the KAT trade. Worst trade since the Harden trade. They'd be the favorites to win the West had they kept KAT.

Knicks made out like bandits; they'll be a true challenger to the Celtics in the East by season's end. Rosas is my early pick for EOY.

Basically, the KAT trade transformed the West favorite into a play-in team. At least the 2010s Thunder were still title contenders after the Harden trade.

Good take.

2nd apron is brutal, something had to be done.
Wolves will go as far as Edwards takes then and while Randle has been fine it's really drop in McDaniels and Conly play that is bringing them down. Conley looks like father time finnaly caught up to him.

At the end of the day I still have them on top 6

It sure doesn’t look like it so far. Fit with Randle was poor to start with. Donte is probably disgruntled.

Eh they've looked average so far this year but they traded out their 2nd best offensive player for a new 2nd best offensive player with a very different playstyle right before the season. It's optimistic to expect them to come out of the gates blazing and I'm going to give them more than 15 games to figure things out.

I say yes. Talent wise they have as many or more good pieces as any western team outside the Thunder and I would still bet on them to find some kind of rhythm by the end of the season

Wolves will be better once they gel, Knicks shot themselves in the foot and are now banking on Mitchell Robinson staying healthy to save them...

So much for that heralded Edwards leap to MVP contender

Are we watching the same Knicks?

Yeah they're a top 6 team, this is an overreaction. Give them some time; I think the got worse for the trade, but in a few months they'll look better.

It was obvious they downgraded with the trade they traded their second best player to save money, I don't feel sorry for them. I voted no, they will be in the play-in IMO.

Team chemistry is shot - Unless they fix that, and get Randle and Ant to pass the **** ball, we'll barely make play-in

Too early to tell... they're having some problems with DDV, and Conley looking old. And they're trying to figure out Randle, too? It'll take some time, but they can be Top 4 in the West if ANT plays at a high level.

not sure what is wrong wih divincenzo. he thinks he is superstar and underestimates wolves? wolves were a better team than the knicks last season, he should just be motivated and keep competing. otherwise trade his ass.

chemistry is horrible, but biggest problem is the PG rotation is one of the worst in league, and no reason to think that will change
Conley can't stay healthy or play big minutes anymore

Eh they hung around with the defending champs, I think they're on the door of being top 6 team. It's possible for them to move up the ranks as chemistry develops.

Completely different team to last season - JR is a defensive cancer that has killed our identity as a hard-nosed defence so now we're just trying to outscore oppositions every night - Won't win **** with that play.

From last year, I had so much hope for them but this trade has literally destroyed any chance of repeating (or exceeding) that run we had.

$'s were the priority for the team, definitely not winning

Well they are like 2 games out of the top 6 but it doesn't seem like a given they will finish there like it seemed during the off season. Them starting from the play in seems as likely as them getting into the top 6 right now. I just think they lack leadership and Ant seems like a Vince Carter type who is getting overhyped right now.

Was it Nate Duncan that called DDV the real prize of the trade? lol

How can any one with half a brain rate the Lakers ahead of the Wolves ?

Also the Knicks are overrated right now.

I cannot put them in the same tier as the Celtics, Cavs or Magic in the East, and in fact the rising Bucks could very well surpass them around or after Christmas in the standings.
