What in the Hell Can the Nuggets Do?

Seriously, they're so bad.

What are some trades/anything else they could do to make them legit contenders?

I'm not hip on all the contract stuff. But is there a way they can get Jimmy Butler? Any other all-star maybe?

Nothing. Just try to be a contender. Jokic is 29. Can easily play 4-5 years around this level.

Somehow acquire a time machine so they can go back in time and trade players like Murray when the public greatly over-values them.

Suck enough to grant the Orlando Magic a lottery pick.

Shouldn't have extended Jamal and instead look for a trade for him.

Win games stop making excuses for Jokic. This core group won a championship just 2 years ago.

If you ask me they just overrated because people thought they would be a dynasty because they had Jokic.

Also as great as Jokic is he sucks on defense. They basically have to outscore teams. That team needs some defensive players.

They have some good role players in Braun and Watson.

Gordon is a solid 4th guy.

MPJ shouldn’t have gotten an extension. No reason to think the market was going to pay him a max.

Murray, just confounding sometimes. But if there was a strong #2 instead of MPJ and Murray was the 3rd option, I think they could survive. And then thrive when Murray is on.

But yeah they have traded a lot of picks and Jokic is good enough on his own to keep the Nuggets in contention. Just stay the course and try to tinker, see if anyone is silly enough to take on MPjr for useful players.

Trade a 1st for Bruce Brown and get him back into the system. We have solid role players to give out.

jokic is an all time great of course but the rest of the roster stinks and they weren't even that great a team the season they won a title in the first place. jamal murray has never received a single all-nba or mvp vote, has never made an all-star team, and has only had two decent playoff runs.

the problem is that this team was billed as a potential dynasty and expectations were too high. yeah they have some great pieces around jokic but none of are even all-star caliber. and they've had attrition aside from that (kcp).

there's nothing they can really do. hope to get lucky. having jokic alone makes all sorts of things possible.

Jokic needs to be traded for Milwaukee or Giannis and Dame need to come to Denver-

Honestly I have never seen two franchises mismanage the rosters of top 20 to potentially top 5 players this bad ever.

Their GMs should be fired immediately- while Dallas, OKC, Gouston, Boston, minny and the 76ers are making moves to give their best players a chance - the bucks and nuggets are trying to see how difficult they can make it for their star

They need 3 point shooting and a scorer to come off the bench so bad. I would look to see what you could get for MPJ and Aaron Gordon as the leading piece of a trade.

If not then trade Jokic away and rebuild

I think the Bucks have done a pretty good job with Giannis. They just got unlucky with injuries the past few postseasons + most of their roster being old. Their window started in 2019 and they are now in year 6. Teams are usually in decline around this stage.

Trade Michael Porter Jr and Jamaal Murray and see what they can get back from them. I think they have enough value where they would be able to get legit upgrade in exchange for them or atleast get multiple solid role players back for them.

Every member of the starting 5 still has a positive EPM, despite some of their individual struggles.

Collectively, Murray-Braun-Porter-Gordon-Jokic sport a +12.5 net rating 164 minutes of action. It's a healthy lineup.

But there's a steep decline after their 5 best players. Their 6th-ranked player is Westbrook with a -1.4 EPM. Then it gets even worse, and fast.

Basically, this suggests that Denver's starting 5 is fine, but that they have no depth and that their bench guys aren't even NBA players. Whenever their bench guys come in, their performance plummets.

The front office placed its bets on the wrong prospects in the draft, and losing KCP depleted their bench, by domino effect.

They need to trade their remaining draft picks and bench guys salaries for NBA players who can provide two-way play from their bench. They're not getting equal value for Murray or MPJ on the market.
