what is Kawhi Leonard's trade value ?

Post#1 » by greekman » Wed Dec 11, 2024 6:00 am

leonard is still an impact player and the clippers keep renewing his contracts even when he misses key games and even seasons.
is it worth it for any team to take the risk trading for him ? boston had an easy run in the postseason not so easy this year. knicks, bucks, cavs with their key players are not pushovers.

kawhi would make okc the favorites if he played postseason.

what would be the return for kawhi ? picks, filler, bad contracts ? more ?

A team like Memphis could give up young talent (Bane, GG Jackson, LaRavia, etc.) and picks and not lose a lot of their depth. Otherwise it's hard to see a team be able to give up a lot for him without hemorrhaging their future.

Does Kawhi have that kind of value? Bane AND picks? There's a reason L.A. might entertain a trade, his knees are shot.

Boston, Cavs and OKC are doing well, so I don't see why they'd take on Kawhi. His salary is high and they'd have to match it, plus I'm sure the Clippers would want some sort of asset.

Maybe the Bucks, but who would they give up for him?

The Knicks...I'm not sure who they'd trade.

My guess is that his value isn't that high due to his history of injuries.

It should be negative value. You're trading for an old part-time player on a bad contract.

With how they their roster set, they can go ten deep and keep Leonard to a minimum come playoff time, then use him for 30 minutes a game.

Personally, I don't think he gets another contract. I agree with you that his knees are shot. It was more on the hypothetical of answering the original question. I really don't see any team helping the Clippers out and taking him off their hands for much of anything.

Chances of Kawhi playing in more than 20-30 games - not only this season, but like from now till the end of his career - are slimmer than chances of Embiid making out of the second round.
If any GM sees his value as a positive one - considering the size and length of his contract at his age and health with the current CBA - that GM must be fired.

Kawhi plays 37 games on avg in last 8 seasons and missed or got injured in 5 PS from last 7. So what kind of value do you looking? If you add some draft capital maybe you will get bad expiring contract back - Ben Simmons for example.

Net zero. The guy can't play anymore, his body failed. Unfortunate because he was a total beast but that's the reality of it.

People need to realize that this whole idea of, “play him 15mpg in the regular season and then double it or even 2.5x in the playoffs” doesn’t work. The way that would completely interrupt the team’s harmony on the court in that they’re now expected to make a major piece playing major minutes work within the flow of the offense - not to mention the very likely off-the-court consequences - would be a big problem. This isn’t 2K.

Harden and Kawhi seems like a good fit, how unfortunate we're not able to see it

kawhi is a one-shot value

a team willing to give up almost anyone for the one-shot window. that would be an old fart team like the lakers but it ain't happening cuz he dont wanna go there

if kawhi is healthy for the one year, mpj <> kawhi straight up. porter hit his ceiling already - he's too soft

Probably zero. Will he ever really be healthy again.

Im certain that IF Kawhi gets traded its the Clippers that would make the calls and initiate the trade talks, and not the 29 other teams.

Negative value. LAC would need to attach assets to move him at this point

Respectfully if your GM trades for Kawhi he should be fired on the spot.
