What franchise is in the worst position for the next 5-10 years?

Refreshing to not see the Pistons on one of these lists.
I went for the Bulls as they seem to be stuck with an owner/front office that refuses to rebuild and are happy to just tread water with a play-in team.

This. The worst part is they hit on Lonzo who played out of his skin for almost half a season and it seems like they keep trying to re-create it

Denver.
Front office has been making questionable moves.

The biggest thing a franchise needs is a superstar, or potential superstar. Been a long time since a team won a championship without a first team All NBA player.
If they don’t have that, the next biggest thing is to have your own picks and other teams’ to maybe get one. If you’re not the Lakers, you aren’t getting a free agent superstar to join if you’re a bad team.
Whichever team that’s pick poor and doesn’t have a potential superstar - they get my vote.

The Bulls. Should've blown up a long time ago. Don't know where management go from here.

Which team on this list owes the most net draft capital?
That’s the answer IMO.

Nice…sorta. Glad to see others see the heap of garbage we do. I’m a Bulls fan who has quit watching the team, and I decided at the last deadline that I was absolutely done spending energy posting about them (as in following them) until the team is sold, or AK is fired. Not holding my breath on either.
Absolutely the reasons you two stated are legitimate. Cheap skate, money-only driven ownership still raking it in off of one of the biggest basketball brands established my MJ/Scottie/et al. Love how the big two didn’t show for the Bulls new Ring of Shame.
Incompetent, small-minded front office that runs a team that’s somehow small even within a small ball era. Opted for a playin push over a real chance at Wemby. Doing it again for the deep Flagg/Harper/Ace class…trying to lose our pick entirely in the process. Took years to act on it being a shooting league even though they’ve given it tons of lip service along the way (also, Vuc is on an unsustainable heater so far this year, lifting the team %…along with Lavine’s return).
Lavine’s the best player. Not going to go into it, but think he gets way too much flack from the general public. He’s still a far cry from a legit #1 in any case, and yes, has health issues.
Team has a single good young prospect in Matas who the FO got lucky, and fell ass backwards into getting.
Outside of that, nothing special on the roster. Too much money in Sleepy Pat Williams. Soon to be too much in can’t shoot or play any D Giddey.
I’m not a championship or bust type fan. I understand it’s a process, and involves a ton of luck. Just be building towards it, and/or be within a part of the cycle that’s potentially on the way. Bulls have clearly opted out of titles, and are satisfied to be just below mid. Ugh.
Bulls are objectively worse than about every team on the list except the Wiz. But I think the Wiz are better off because they’ve at least chosen a lane.

The Warriors, once Steph retires we might see the dark ages for the Warriors again!

LaVine is hugely under rated. Gets a big contract to stay and people talk like he's a negative asset.
I just get confused with the Giddy trade (Everyone was, unless Caruso told Chicago and every team he wasn't gonna extend unless he landed at OKC) when you probably want to play Ayo/White a bit more and you go away from it. I think Matas shows good signs, but you rather play through some mistakes through him then limit time, kinda pay Williams (Who's not useless, but I mean, you honestly rather use that money to take a bad contract back then keep him on)
I think it's more you have absolute Faith that Chicago will cheap out at any potential chance and hit the breaks with any free fall which might lose bums on seats for 30 games

Hurts, we just traded an all NBA player because Taylor decided he sold the team too cheaply, and then realized he's also too cheap to pay the tax bill to retain good players

I voted Bulls and Raptors. I just don't have alot of confidence in Masai moving forward.

I have Washington, Charlotte and Phoenix.
In one way, Washington and Charlotte don't look that bad, but they generally feel limited by some combination of market/ownership/FO that will keep them down for a while.
Phoenix has more competence now, but they're old, expensive and owe a lot of draft capital. There's major concern their owner isn't great at big picture planning. They also aren't located in Los Angelas which gives the Lakers and (to a lesser degree) Clippers an advantage.

The East (as currently constructed), is easier to go from also-ran to competitive. The West has a way of keeping a franchise in the basement for years if they're not careful. I wouldn't want to be Utah or Sacramento or New Orleans (at least until they make a decision on Ingram/Zion) moving forward. Portland, at least, has all of their picks and some young players to build around.
Phoenix, Minnesota and Sacramento all did 10 consecutive years or more of missing the playoffs this century.

I’d say all 3 are better than Chicago.
Utah
- has the picks from the Don/Rudy trades.
- A bit younger, better reputation best player.
- More young pieces, tbd if they amount to anything
- Are in legit strong lottery position for this draft
Sacramento
- Kinda Bulls West, but the simple fact that both Sabonis and Fox are younger and better than Lavine - that puts them in better position to restart and reload with draft picks
Pelicans
- Have several nice pieces the Bulls don’t. Teams would love to have Jones (esp on his older deal) and TM III (can get back a lot of plus assets out of these guys if they want).
- The FO can draft. Missi has been solid mid round pick so far. The two above. Daniels while gone is blossoming as a very solid #8 pick.
- I understand Zion’s contract to have some team friendly clauses. Plus some sucker will take the risk on his talent if they just want to rid themselves of him
- Are in legit strong lottery position for this draft
But yes, the West has been so damn tough for what feels like forever. I feel like the things mentioned above give those teams greater hope than Chicago conferences aside.
