Aren't there more stories of him bullying and hazing players? I wonder if he would be as popular, if he did that stuff in this era. His PR team is incredible.

He's terrible human being.
Countless examples of him being an absolute POS.
If something happened to him tomorrow, no one would care.

Yes, it's disgusting. But keep in mind hazing is a long-established custom that starts as early as high school. It's common practice on sports teams, fraternities, even white-collar finance jobs.
Not defending Shaq, but I wager this doesn't even make the top ten list of worst stuff happening to rookies in professional locker rooms. Anyone who played sports in school knows what I'm talking about lol

Hazing is a custom from US frats, and has little traction in most of the 1st world.
It's disgusting behaviour, but sadly unsurprising. If Shaq had played today he would have been viewed much more negatively for his antics and attitude, as would guys like Wilt, Kobe, etc.

It’s funny because sometimes when I get lost scrolling YouTube shorts and Facebook reels for a long time I’ll see stories of Shaq talking about Shaq saying how he’s not better than anyone that his Dad taught him that or him going up and hugging a little kid and the comments are all middle aged Karen’s saying what a great human Shaq is and I’m thinking to myself the same thing as you, his PR team is incredible.

This is something that I take into account in all-time rankings.
Kobe inspired teammates with his work ethic. Shaq showed up to training camp out of shape and dumped human waste on rookies.
Bill Russell threw up before every game because he was nervous he wouldn’t play well enough. Wilt refused to practice before noon one season.

Guarantee Kobe wasn't with the BS.
Amazing they won 3 together.
Only because Kobe was so young.
No way prime Kobe puts up with such BS.

Well that's super extreme, the entire sports industry not just basketball would care if something happened to Shaq.
At the end of the day, all of these hazing stories are just a small fraction of his overall influence. If he was such a POS like you mentioned, a lot more of these stories would have came out and much sooner than 14 years post-career.
I think it's hilarious to be honest. It was a different time ~20 years ago and things that were somewhat okay than obviously wouldn't fly today with social media and whatnot. The guy had so many teammates in his 19 year career and honestly how many of them actually hated him?

Shaq's just lucky he wasn't there in 07 to try this when Javaris Crittendon was a rookie...

Things might've got extra-curricular REAL quick!
