2024-25 NBA Rookie Discussion Thread (Pt. 3)

Post#1 » by bisme37 » Wed Jan 8, 2025 6:09 pm

Sorry guys I looked at the previous thread and realized the poll totally sucked lol. Here's my best shot at a better/more current one.

The poll is limited to 10 options, so everyone can't be in there. It is set up so you can change your votes as often as you'd like.

Go rookies yay!

This rookie class is living up, or down, to its reputation...

I don’t know why away Mitchell isn’t on this list he’s having a great year.

Missi and Wells take the lead. Castle hit the rookie wall and hasn't played well since going back to the bench

I haven't voted yet, but I would be voting Wells and either Edey or Missi.

I just don't see Edey hitting the 65 game plateau (if he misses 4 more games he's out), but to me he's Missi, but better. Both have around a 5% block%. Edey has a 110 TS+ while Missi has 102 TS+ while both have similar shot diets (both have 2/3 of their 2's assisted and primarily shoot right at the rim or in floater range), but Edey has more shot opportunities and shoots threes (and hits them apparently, however its still super low sample and his FT% now and in the past would indicate that he's not an above 35% three point shooter).

Do I ding Edey for missed time right now and for the fact he may not even be eligible for the award down the line?

Reed just dropped 49 in the Gleague. So that's cool.

he just got unlucky to be drafted by the rockets. Not that the team or organization is bad, they are just too stocked with talent to give him playing time. Imagine him on the Wizards or Pistons right now.

FVV likely gets his option declined but even then, i don't think the Rockets hand the keys to Sheppard. The team is really good, i don't think they want to take a step back with a rookie point guard. He may end up flourishing on his next team.

I just don't know if he plays enough minutes compared to the guys listed. Even so, he's on the brink of this list and could be argued for it. He is somewhere between a candidacy compared to someone like Jaylen Brown or Terence Davis who made small contributions to good playoff teams.

I think you're talking about Ajay Mitchell? I'm honestly not sure I've even seen him get minutes but I guess that's on me. I just added him to the other category.

If anyone wants to make suggestions please quote me and I'll fix whatever it is. I haven't been following every rookie in the league super closely or anything, but I'm happy to make the poll the way you guys want it.

Wells followed by Sarr.

I'm not a huge believer in Sarr's upside, his offense looks really terrible but he's gonna put up some numbers

I don't want to dump on him at all but if you're the #3 overall pick and down in the G-League you better be doing this. Any baller with a pulse puts up monster numbers there.

No, that's not what I meant, not a single standout player in this class, verybfew jn their teams rotation.

How many times are you going to dodge my question?

Where does this class rank in the last 10 years

people just seem to want to hate on the "experts". by all accounts, this class looks really bad.
There are a couple potential allstars but i don't see future all-nba level talent here.

Wells than Sarr, but the ROY award is there for anyone to claim. 15 games ago, Sarr wasn't even in the top 5.

On a side note, I don't get the love affair people have with Stephon Castle but all the hate Scoot gets.
