Why are the jazz doing this? Trading for a first round pick 6 years out is bold.

Jimmy Butler you ARE a Phoenix Sun.

As a Jazz fan, I can see moving the '25 Cavs pick, which will be #29 or #30 in an iffy draft.
In 2027, the Jazz have 4 1sts, including their own, the Twolves, Cavs and Lakers (top 4 protected), so I can see moving one.
In 2029, I think the Jazz are planning to be good, so maybe they'd move their own pick.

I don't think the Jazz are planning to be good in 2029.

I guess Phoenix has no choice but to go all in given what their small window. But even if they grab Jimmy, I doubt this works out. These big all-in for star players have pretty much never yielded a championship. The last several championships have been organically grown internally.

Its definitely so they can split that pick into multiple trades instead of just one big trade. However, these are pretty low value picks on their own whereas that Suns 2031 was pretty valuable. Will be cool to see what is next.

Isn’t the main issue Bradley Beal? His no trade clause and no one wanting him or his contract?

Even if you attach a FRP to Beal what teams are going to take on that contract for the 30th pick in the draft?

Why would Miami now want x3 low not incredibly valuable picks opposed to the juicy unprotected ‘31 FRP?

I think there’s still a lot of work to be done to get Butler in Phoenix

Miami is probably satisfied with a single 1st if it comes with no future salary, which leaves 2 1sts to dump Beal, which would be the cost, imo.

Is the Beal contract really that bad? It's shorter than I thought it was, 1 year after this + a player option. I wouldn't say he's completely cooked.

Maybe the Suns have to attach two FRPs to move Beal? Why trade for 3 FRPs right now?
