The Real Reason Luka Was Traded to the Lakers
1) NBA Ratings are Plummeting: The ratings are down and declining. The league is losing viewership, and it's a clear trend.
2) Lakers: Global Powerhouse: Despite the broader issues, the Lakers remain the most popular team globally. Their appeal is undeniable.
3) LeBron's Approaching End: The reality is that LeBron James' career is nearing its end. When he retires, it's likely the ratings will take another hit.
4) Doncic's Rising Popularity: Luka Doncic has emerged as one of the most popularizing young superstars in the NBA, drawing a lot of attention worldwide.
5) Mavericks' Bizarre Strategy: The Mavericks are looking to trade Doncic. What's even more perplexing is that they don't seem to be actively seeking offers from other teams. They directly contact the Lakers to trade a generational talent for a 32 years old player. Not even another young star or several first round picks.
6) Media will try to convince you the move is real and legit: They will be selling the narrative that AD is the guy that the Mavs needed. Ignoring that they already build a great team around Luka and with Luka they would have the chance to win rings for the next 5–10 years.
7) Lakers' Unbelievable Acquisition: Then, in what seems like the most illogical trade imaginable, the Lakers somehow acquire Luka Doncic. It defies all sense, yet it has happened.
8) Lakers Secured for the Future: Suddenly, the Lakers are poised for mid-long-term success, setting up an interesting dynamic for the foreseeable future.
9) NBA is Revitalized: And just like that, the NBA becomes the talk of the town again. People talking about NBA now, and everyone will be tuning in to watch Doncic in a Lakers jersey.
Congrats to the NBA for the move. Sorry to all the Mavs fans, and sorry to Luka for being used as a pawn. And sorry to all of us fans, as business has overtaken the sport itself.

What’s good for NYC/LA is good for everyone, I think we’ve all heard that before/forever.

A lot more than meets the eye than what is uttered by these “media pundits”. This was a very calculated move

Re: The Real Reason Luka Was Traded to the Lakers
There is zero chance that the league lets the Los Angeles Lakers become a bottom feeding team, and with LeBron's age, this is a reality they had to accept. Luka in LA makes sense from league perspective. It seems the Commish may have forced Cubans hand.
One wonders now if the recent lopsided KAT trade to the Knicks had the same greasy league fingers on it?

Not because a GM make a bad trade mean you are correct....

And the ratings don't matter. They secured the bag from the networks for the next several years

Only Luka in a Lakers jersey can save this league from the far left radical Adam Silver and his minions of gamblers, thugs and crooked Zebras.
Time to make the NBA great again. Save us Luka. The people are in your chubby hands.

Some of you are really overthinking this.

Well Im a big follower of politics, history, economics etc. And its amazing to see how often smart ppl and contigents of smart ppl are prone to getting high on their own supply. Its obvious the league has helped LA in the past. It has turned in to a thing you do. And state of media and society in general is heavily gaslit and not really about srs ppl doing srs things anymore. Its like now you can just help lakers more blatently. No one will be able to do anything about it."Ppl want buzz"
So honestly I wouldnt be suprised. At the end of the day its about giant integral systems functioning. One of such is the NBA. The owners shake and bake to keep the thing going, even if they more and more suck at keeping it classy, or sometimes even outright fail at it.

What?
Prior to Lebron coming we had 5 bottom feeding seasons
2 seasons where we lost 60+ games
2 seasons where we lost 50+ games
the best season we had prior to lebrons arrival was a 35-47 season
We were literally THE bottom feeding team in west. we were the joke of NBA.

Wouldn’t Doncic in LA result in higher ratings, more revenue to share, better tv deals, etc.?
Would a cheap owner be more incentivized to send Luka to LAL or New Orleans?
