WORST ALL STAR WEEKEND in HISTORY

Post#1 » by chuck_wagon44 » Mon Feb 17, 2025 2:34 pm

I cant express how badly the game I love has been decimated by Adam Silver and LeBron James.

The crowd was 40% full. They tried to dim the lights so we wouldn't notice lol.

All star saturday was so cringe and the Spurs tried to cheat a simple skills challenge. Pathetic.

And the worst part, Sunday game....Kevin Hart talked mostly. we cant even remember the game.

Can't we find these same exact threads from Indy last year? lol

As a Spurs fan, i can understand how Saturday night was less enjoyable for you.

Every year I think it can't possibly get worse yet the NBA manages to make it just that. Impressively terrible

My guy Buzelis was in dunk contest and he literally failed to dunk. Man, I didn't watch Sunday event, but from all the people I heard, might actually have been worst one in history.

Got to respect the hustle for desperately trying to fix this garbage event, but I am confused. NBA wanted that All stars would try and take game seriously, but then they create an event with Kevin Hart as emcee, Mr. scammer, I mean Mr. Beast etc. Like, wtf was this supposed to be, how any players supposed to take that seriously?

Last year, those threads we probably right. This year, this thread is probably right.

SInce we in conspiracy season, i can buy conspiracy that SIlver tried to make an even SO BAD, that there would be no one left, who could possibly be upset when he cancels the whole thing next year.

Really TNT should be taking the most blame for this all star weekend. They tried to squeeze as much ad revenue as possible from this event and made it unbearable to watch with all the ads and sponsorships and doing some type of celebration for inside the nba in the middle the game.
Most 4th Quarter Points in Final since 1991
1995 Shaquille O'Neal 11.5
2000 Shaquille O'Neal 11.5 (61.1% TS)

1998 Michael Jordan 10.6 (50.6% TS)
2011 Dirk Nowitzki 10.3 (68.0% TS)

The in-season tournament is proof, yet somehow Adam can't see it :o
The players are already getting paid so that's not the solution.

Let's sever the all-star game revenue from the overall league revenue.

All-star players get 50% of the share of all-star game revenue. The more entertaining or competitive they make the game, the more revenue they generate and the more money they make.

If the players let the all-star game die, they stop making money.

Money is always solution, we know that and Silver knows it. But :
first, they don't want to just give money left and right as the NBA tries to do everything to get all the money for themselves.
Second. NBA cup is actual trophy and tournament, so its not comparable to all star game exibition
Third. If they give MORE money to the guys who already make 50+ Mil a year, just so they would try in the game, I think it would be insulting to actual regular people who already often struggle to cover rent or taxes..

Let’s see if this thread can be the worst, “this is the WORST ALL STAR WEEKEND in HISTORY”, in history.

Maybe it shouldn't be a whole weekend. I'm sure it's better for advertising, but the rising stars challenge, 3 point shoot out, dunk contest and some version of the all star game could all be played on one night. Trim the fat. Keep the musical performances. Add in a celebrity host who's more of an emcee. 3.5 hours. Done.

I thought it was very entertaining except for the long commercials...if they got rid of the commercials it would have been a 8/10 IMO

Knew I wasn’t the only one who noticed how empty the arena was at all times. 50% capacity is being generous. It was like a Charlotte Hornets game on Tuesday night

The all star weekend was never good. The all-star game was canceled in 1999. If your love of the game is based on the all-star weekend then you’re not very smart.

Used to order up a pizza feast and invite all the boys over to watch the all star Saturday night. Now I legitimately didn’t even care enough to even know it was happening this weekend

This used to be one of my favourite weekends of the year and I would host a party and now I just catch whatever highlights are posted on TikTok and barely even watch those.

Players aren't going to care about the All-Star game anymore and they shouldn't. It's pointless. Keeping all-star voting is fine, but the events should go. Give the players a week off or shorten the season.
