I agree with him. For some reason, his accomplishments is far more greater than perception of who Jason Tatum is. He is simply overshadowed by 3-4 players who are a bit above him.

Really shouldn't matter to him if he's winning titles. Celtic fans get it. Who gives a crap what people think?

Tatum, apparently. He wants to be Kobe, but with the chroma and charisma of Duncan. For some odd reason, that bothers him.

Because he has the best supporting cast in the NBA and it’s not even close.

There’s no other number one option in the league who could perform how he did in the ECF and Finals last year and walk away with a title. Zero chance for any other number one option to get away with that.

Weird persecution complex, what more recognition does he warrant?

You're not going to be appreciated by people when you shoot 10 threes a game and make only 35% of them.
One of the most boring offensive game in the league.

Problem is that he’s a beta who thinks he’s an alpha.

Was his rostered stacked when he was the best player on a finals team as a 23/24 year old? He has been in the confrence finals almost every year and most of those teams weren't stacked.

The last 2 years the team could be considered stacked because we have multiple players that can slide between option 2 to 4 on any given night but from a historical perspective they dont seem stacked. Most title teams have two top 10 players or 3 top 15

He probably thinks the Celtics success is all his success. Crazy, he wasn't even FMVP when his team won.

Sorry Tatum, you are barely top5 in the league. You might just be 1B in your team when the game is on the line.

I think it really comes down to likeability. Tatum is an elite talent, there's no denying that, but fans have a tough time relating to someone that lacks charisma. He's a modern-day Duncan in a league full of Allen Iversons.

He wasn't that great in the finals against GS, and the Warriors outside Curry weren't very good. Actually, Wiggins probably played just as well as Tatum did and that's why the Warriors won it all. Game 1 had Horford scoring 26, Smart 18, White 21, while Tatum shot 3/17 and scored only 12 points. He was mostly inefective in the series: whenever he was the top scorer, the Celtics lost.

Come to think of it: yes, that roster was stacked. Smart was a DPOY, and they had everyone they had today except Porzingis (who didn't play in last years finals anyway). White, Brown and Horford were already pretty good (Horford better than today), and Smart was at his peak - not as good as Jrue but enough to consider that roster stacked. Remove Tatum and add any other top5 player in the league to the 2022 Cs and they win it.

It's just irrelevant media takes. In reality, Celtics fans love him, he's a young superstar and champion. That's all that should matter.

If we really want to get real, just google his net worth. When you've made so much, does it really matter if you "feel" appreciated?

There’s some people here who talk like he’s not even a top 20 player in the league. He’s not wrong

You're a charisma vacuum bro, dudes lose charisma in your immediate vicinity. lean into it. Duncan did and he's hilarious.
From a fundamental standpoint it is better for a man to have nothing but be under the protection of Jesus Christ than for him to have everything he could ever want yet be completely without.

Partially...but people were always giving Duncan appreciation. Kawhi too and he can suck all the life out of a room with his lack of charisma. It's more about his skill set and play style. He's not elite/top-5 at any one particular skill and he's not as exciting nor entertaining to watch as other stars.

Also I'm not sure exactly what he's looking for. He's never underappreciated when it comes to award voting and he's not really underrated either. Yeah he doesn't generate the same buzz as others...is that what he wants?

He generates buzz for all the wrong reasons...underwhelming in the Finals and losing out on the MVP, texting Kobe and sharing it with the public and then proceeding to lose in the Finals, copying championship celebrations etc. Maybe the casual fan doesn't read too far into that, but for me none of that has helped his public perception.
