Every team is under .500, and none of the teams would be a top sixth seed/avoid the play-in tournament.

The Division's 2 All-Star(s), with the second only happening via injury replacement, is a career 6th man and a guy who was on the trading block a year ago.

The best player in the entire division got traded in the trade deadline(and just posted 5 points on 1/7 shooting).

As of this writing 2/28/2025, all of the teams but one are on a losing streak. To put it in perspective the best team in the division 29-32 would be barely ahead of the Suns(27-32) who are clearly out of the play-in race as of today.

Half of the wins of the worst team in the league come from this division, which also holds the worst team in the league(Washington)

I’ve always low key thought Miami’s record was boosted by getting to play so many games in that division.

It don't make a huge difference at all.....They face the rest of their division 4 times each and the rest of the conference 3-4 times each.This is not baseball or NFL

No need to reward these loser teams.

Orlando is the only good team in the Southeast this year, even though their record doesn't match the perception.

Division races used to actually be fun. They still are in football and baseball.

I wish NBA would drop the whole conference approach, and focus more on divisions again.
Imagine a 10 team division where the winner gets a top 3 seed in a 16 team playoff field.
No East vs West. Just 3 division winners atop the playoff chart.

NOTE: I've always thought it insane that Memphis isn't a part of the Southeast division.

It's literally the closest NBA market to Atlanta.

Miami will play 16 games against teams in the Southeast Division every season.

At a minimum, the Celtics, for example, will play 12 games against teams in the Southeast Division (but can play as many as 16, depending on the scheduling).

A difference of 4 games, at most, is insignificant.

i agree, and this division has basically been the worst division in the NBA for the last 5 years

Washington - hasn't made the playoffs since 2021, looking at almost 50 years without winning 50 games (they will get there)
Charlotte - hasn't made the playoffs since 2015-2016 (good LORD)
Orlando - hasn't won 50 games since 2011, 3 1st round exits the last decade
Miami - carries the division
Hawks - just mid

Get rid of divisions. Oh, get rid of conferences too.

Playoffs should be 1-16 format. How come the Cavs get to play against the garbage Bulls in the first round while the Thunder have to duke it out against Steph Curry and the Warriors?

The divisions don't matter because the schedule is balanced. This would make more sense if the NBA made divisions/divisional games matter (by only having 4 in total).

Yeah, it's hard to guarantee all 6 divisions being competitive...especially when each only has 5 teams.

It would be more fun if there were only 3 divisions, with 10-teams each, with very tilted schedules. (Half your games are in-division.)

Then you could run a true 16 team playoff with the 3 division winners getting top seeds.
