Mavericks raise ticket prices after Luka Dončić trade, citing 'ongoing investments in the team'
Many Mavs fans and season ticket-holders reacted as could be expected.


One month after the Dallas Mavericks shockingly traded Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a first-round draft pick, the team notified season ticket-holders on Monday that the price for renewals is going up for next season.

The "ticket pricing adjustments," as the Mavericks termed the price hike, will result in an average overall price increase of 8.61%, WFAA reported.

Citing "months of analytics and research" that preceded the Dončić trade, the adjusted ticket prices are intended to represent seat value better, especially in high-demand sections closest to the court, and upgrade the fan experience with member benefits and in-game entertainment.

Additionally, the pricing adjustments were based on looking at the price that tickets are getting on secondary markets. Full-season ticket-holders will save 15% to 23% compared to those prices, according to the Mavericks. Mini-season ticket-holders will see a savings of 11% to 20%.


The team went on to say that renewals would see a "major financial advantage" with "marquee matchups" such as a game versus the Lakers, according to FOS.

Well they probably aren’t expecting playoff revenue on the next few years since AD is always injured and Kyrie on a bad team probably goes back to zen vacations. They gotta make up the revenue somehow

i'm honestly shocked anyone other than casual NBA fans that just wanna go see NBA players (or tourists) is still going to these team's games. I mean, they traded Luka for AD, what's left to say?

Don't know how much more evidence we need to know that money was a big factor in the Luka trade. Just a coincidence they saved tax and have raised prices? They also clearly did the projections and knew paying him would eat into those profits. I hope Nico is getting a fatcheck for being the fall guy. He did the trade but it was clearly triggered by a request to save money one way or another.

Well, they did the research on how to get money, just not how to spend it wisely among proper players. All they have to do now is trade for KD and become Suns 2.0... No roster depth and only hope will be that old and fragile stars stay healthy.

I'd dare to guess that 95% of posts on this forum incorrectly use "resign" instead of "re-sign," despite these terms having nearly opposite meanings. You're 0 for 15 yourself.

“apart” and “a part” get confused often too and it drives me nuts, haha.

Prices always go up, nothing surprising there. New ownership looking to make a return, disappointing, but expected.

Citing "investments in the team" seems like kicking fans when they're down though.

I love how a thread about this **** show of a franchise turns, almost immediately, into a spelling thread... If that doesn't show that we're not buying their bull I don't know what does.

(Again, this is not a jab at Mavs fans, just the terrible people you have in charge at the moment)
