Giannis after being drafted a raw skinny kid from Greece he is the 6th youngest to 20k points that’s amazing!
He has been so consistent the last 8 years after only scoring 7 pts a gm his first year. Where do you think he will end up on scoring list?

He’s probably going to hit 25K but not 30K.

based on what? Giannis would need 8 seasons of 19 pts per game while playing 70 games a season
that seems pretty attainable...

Giannis seems to be more of someone who has dominated with his athleticism than his skillset it'll be interesting to see how a 35 year old Giannis looks in the NBA. He just seems like a guy who won't play to 38. Until recently, it was pretty rare for guys to play into their late 30s.

He has two more seasons at 30pts and 65 games he’s at 24k he stays healthy he easily should hit 30k

Have you not paid attention at all to him developing a good mid-range shot & post game this year? I criticized him for this in the past, but he's evolved. Also, how is slick ball-handling at 7' not part of a skill-set? Or good passing vision?
At 35 he'll still have all of these things, be 7', & hyper-competitive. The athleticism helps, but it's not all, or even most his game.

shaq even a a shell of himself added 2.3k in years 36/37/38. Maybe he goes that route but Giannis takes care of his body.
It all comes down to injuries but I don't think it's unrealistic for Giannis to get 30k and probably reasonable. He will end the season at around 20.5. 3 years at close a decline but still all NBA third team level has him at 26k. just need to average 1k for years 34/35/36/37 to get to 30k.

Who is the next active player to reach 20K points? I dont think that anyone else is close yet. Might not be any for 2 more seasons. Maybe Jokic but that might be until 2027.

It will be very interesting to see him play the Center position on a permanent basis post 35 old. His athleticism and professionalism will help him play until his late 30s(if he wants to ofc).
I've always envisioned him as a Center on his twilight years.
Until then i predict 3-4 more seasons averaging close to 30ppg. Hopefully after that, he will play the 5.

I am looking at NBA.com, if their stats are accurate
Paul George is close - 18697
Kyrie Irving - 18433
Brook Lopez, Bradley Beal maybe could do it? They are in 17k's
But the next closest ones whom will no doubt reach it in a couple of years.
Devin Booker - 15977
Nikola Jokić - 15753
KAT - 14442
I agree That Giannis does not seem like a guy who will age very well, I wouldn't count on his skills like midrange, but he is very big, so maybe I am wrong.

Anthony Davis has almost 19k. Kyrie seemed like a lock, but his injury may complicate things. Brook turns 37 in a few days; he would have to play well into his 40s.
There's also Vučević, but he would have to maintain his current scoring output for the next three seasons to make it, so it's unlikely. Feels like Towns should be closer to that benchmark that he is in reality. He was such an iron man early on before losing large chnuks of seasons to various injuries.

Oops, I missed AD. Yeah, I saw Vucevic over there, but I am not sure about him, I feel his days as high minutes player are about to be done. Luka is in 12k's now, I honestly thought it should be even more by now, I believe Luka is top 4 player in NBA history in just PPG, so he should finish very very high in total points when his career is done.

It’s true, but his game took off when he added body strength and size. He’s gonna be big, strong, long and very fluid as a ball handler for a long time. I don’t think his straight line speed and vertical is nearly as important for how he scores as people think it is. He’s gonna be aboe to eurostep and dunk without much of a vertical for a long long time.

He's had added a post game and a mid-range shot. His size and length won't go anywhere either, even if he's slower. He'll probably be a good player into his late 30s. I think Kevin Garnett could be a good example.

You clearly failed math.
Giannis is only 30 years old. I expect him to play until he's roughly 40 years old.

An interesting conundrum with players today is that they play more seasons than players of the past, but they also miss more games, too, due to load management.
Just an example, in the last 6 seasons combined, Giannis has missed the equivalent of a whole season.
And he's considered somewhat of an iron man if compared to his peers. Go look at Kyrie, AD and others... and don't even get me started on Kawhi, Zion, etc.
So, in the end, these totals are going to be a wash, I think. Should add an intriguing angle in all-time ranking debates.

Deandre Jordan is still around at age 36 putting up double-digit minutes. Giannis "could" definitely play well into his 30s but wonder how he would like be a 6th guy. Some guys suck in that role, but some surprisingly thrive in that role (Ie late stage Vince Carter).

PJ Tucker is six months older than me and still in the NBA. I'm preeeeeetttttyyyy sure Giannis will be able to get another 10K in points by the tike he's 40, barring injury luck.

Health permitting, he should be able to hit 30k. He'll still retain some fairly high-level functional athleticism even in his mid-30's when he transitions to his "Old Man Duncan/Garnett" phase and averages ~20ppg on good efficiency. He'll become a 5 I would imagine in his twilight years as KGTabake mentioned. Given pace of play, amount of possessions, etc, it shouldn't be a stretch for him at, say, 36 to average 19-21ppg.
