Better Player: Kyrie Irving or Donovan Mitchell

They're very close. This year it's probably been Mitchell, imo. In the past, I would have said they were fairly comparable or given the nod to Kyrie.

Mitchell has been the best player on 2 quasi-contenders now. Irving has never achieved anything as the best player on his team.

Mitchell is fringe top 5. Probably right behind Tatum. Kyrie is not in that conversation

Mitchell since he has 2 ACLs at the moment.

What's the point of this?

Mitchell doesn't get hurt and doesn't have all the offcourt drama. He's also had a few teams at the top of standings as the number one option.

Think it's kind of close but in recent years, it's been Mitchell. Feel like Mitchell is pretty underrated amongst fans too, maybe because of the teams he's played for.

Mitchell was definately not the best player on the Jazz

I'd really like to know who the three people are that voted for Irving and what their reasoning is. I'll always be a somewhat biased Irving defender but this isn't really close...

Kyrie is old as **** and just blew out his ACL. I think the answer is obvious.

In their primes, they were a similar tier of player, with Mitchell having a slight edge IMO.

Kyrie has never been able to lead a team as the best player. Mitchell has done it basically his entire career.

From a pure RAPM perspective over the past 3.5 years, it's been Kyrie. RAPM seems to think he's been the 2nd most impactful offensive player in the league over the past 3 seasons (Including playoff data).

ummm, i'm not arguing about who is better or even who is a better leader but,,, irving has a ring and two championship appearances and instrumental in both

Would Mitchell be the best player on the Cavs from 2015-19?
On the Celtics from 2020 to 2022?
On the Nets from 2022 to 2024?
On the Mavs from 2024 til the Luka trade?
To be fair, Mitchell has never played with players of the caliber of Lebron, KD, Tatum or Luka. Irving has.
Plus, Mitchell wasn't the best player on the Jazz.
He's the best player of the Cavs now. Still there isn't any player there that belongs on the upper achelon.

I thought Mitchell for sure, but when I voted on a poll, I feared I could be in minority as it felt close. But no, seems like most would agree with me here, Mitchell.

Make Mitchell the #2 option next to LeBron or Luka and I'm sure he finally makes a Finals appearance too.

Kyrie should be better in theory, but he never really is for any meaningful stretches. People are gonna watch highlights and see his finals run with LeBron in the future and rank him way higher than he ever actually was during his time playing.
