How bad is Bam Adebayo???

Post#1 » by simplyorange » Wed Mar 19, 2025 4:29 pm

Last 4 games:

33.0 minutes / game
11.2 points / game
7.3 rebounds / game

That is very ineffective.

He can't produce against good teams???

Knicks, Grizzlies, Celtics & Clippers were the opponents.

Also, the Heat have lost 8 in a row & he played in all those games, averaging 36.1 minutes / game.

You have to ask is he a bad contract???

24-25: $34.8 million
25-26: $37.0 million
26-27: $48.7 million
27-28: $52.6 million
28-29: $56.5 million

:o

I actually think the reason the Heat gave him that contract extension is because they are hoping & thinking if / when Giannis or Embiid asks to be traded to Miami, they will have the matching salary, except won't the Bucks & Sixers be able to find a better deal???

He is very mid this season. Feels like he got paid and stopped caring.

As a 76ers fan let's do that trade now. Bam for Embiid straight up. Thank you !
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

Bam has been a weird one this season. There doesn't seem to be any reason why he should have regressed this much. It could be more playstyle for the Heat being in flux all year. He might not be as good a fit with Herro taking the offensive load as much as he was with Butler running the show. So maybe just a blip in the Heat having a transition season due to Butler blowing the team up all year and them trying to learn on the fly here.

It was always offensive to bring him up in convos about leagues best bigs. He's clearly in a 2nd or 3rd tier. He was supposed to be Sabonis (offensive hub) with defense but hes a passenger.

He's a power forward who's been playing center because I don't know why the Heat don't get a center.

And now he's a 3rd option having to be the 1st or 2nd option.

Neither of those things are his fault, but I suppose it's a decent reminder of his strengths and limitations as a player.

This is always the worst to see as a fan.

49ers just went through this with Deebo and Aiyuk.

Him not being able to play PF is his fault. It’s incredibly tough to build a modern offense if neither your PF or C can space the floor. Finding a 3+D C is difficult. If you are a non-C in todays league who can’t shoot you are going to be a limiting factor on your team’s offensive ceiling.

Every playoff team pretty much gets some semblance of spacing from either their PF or C. Unless you have Curry you need spacing from one of those two positions.

He is not bad, without him on the floor we'd have one of the worst defenses in the league. He and he alone is basically our defense. I see him as a great third option. The guy that glues your offensive minded top 2 guys. Selfless, team oriented, defensive stalwart that can literally guard you 1 through 5 (unless you're super huge like Jokic, admittedly he struggles with the taller beefier dudes). Can put him on to guard the best player of the opposing team regardless of position. What he is not is a offensive go getter. He can get you ~20, but he doesn't have the "Give me the ball and get out of my way" personality.

If you already have your 1A offensive alpha and your 2, Bam is the guy that helps you get over the hump. Can change the entire trajectory of the game with his defense, while still giving you 20 points or more.

Does he have the same value of Jokic? no. But in my opinion he has way more value than a Ball, Young, Fox, Sabonis, actually the list is a lot longer than not.

If Miami could have landed Luka, he would have been a great #2 to Luka.

He really is missing an elite play making guard/wing to make his life easier.

I think he's just mentally checked out honestly. We've seen him play like an all-star for awhile now. The whole Jimmy saga ruined the Heat's season

He's more like a 3rd than 2nd option.

He has allways been a defensive elite role player type star, with good passing from post/key.

He lacks size and can't shoot, meaning his offensive game is extremely limited.

Now you put him in a sitaution where he has to produce as 1st or 2nd option, and the obvious limitations shows themselves.

His counting stats decrease when he plays PF next to Ware. That's to be expected IMO. Haven't really explored his impact this year but I wouldn't be surprised if that decreased too, because one of his greatest strengths is being able to hold his own against Cs while also switching onto smaller wings/punishing opposing Cs as a ball handler.

In response to the thread title... He's obviously not bad. Most teams would be very happy to add him to their roster, but we're definitely seeing the Jimmy Butler effect in his absence. Jimmy was always the engine to Miami's success.

Remember when people said Draymond sucked when Curry was injured and the Warriors were a lotto team? This is like that... It just goes to show the importance of a player's role in relation to his impact
