Does it rub anyone else the wrong way that Philly may be gifted yet another top 5 pick?

So due to several years of incompetence aka "The process", Philly has been able to acquire a slew of talent via the draft. They've been fortunate to luck out in their later round FRP in Maxey and recently Jared.
They then think it's a great idea to sign a washed PG to the max and string along yet another injury riddled season involving Embiid. I can already sense yet another top 5 pick going their way now that they're officially eliminated from the playoffs. Doesn't seem fair to the legit woeful/ small market franchises in dire need of a young franchise changing star but hey we know life isn't fair I guess.

No, team never got out of the second round, even though they tried to win, and they are bad again.
This is the sort of team that should be helped.

Not really. With their injury luck with Embiid, PG-13 shamelessly cashing a check Bradley Beal style, and having Ben Simmons be one of their former #1 picks I wouldn't be mad if they got another high pick. It's not like they shamelessly tanked to get to where they are right now like they did during the Process, things just went wrong. They went all in and it backfired, they'll end up Process level bad again if they're punished for that

Regardless what the Sixers were rewarded, teams who were PO teams for few years shouldn't be allowed to participate in the lottery, something like 3 oit of last 4 years or.something like that, teams shouldn't be encouraged to take a year hiatus and have massive incentive this isn't the original intent of the draft or the lottery.

I would be more upset if the Thunder picked at number 7.

PO teams can fall apart and be bad. I think 76ers are pretty bad by now, this is not Spurs getting Tim Duncan situation.
I am very on record saying how much I hate the fact losing is rewarded, but I get idea of helping the weak, and teams/fanbases having hope. But to me it is funny how no one can decide what is real ''intent'' and how to fix it. What you suggesting, is basically the opposite of what Ringer's Vernon been suggesting this past week. He loved the idea that every following year you are in a lottery, you lose your chance at top pick. Which I guess in his mind makes sense, but it would only mean that teams like Philly would have astronomically huge chances at number one pick, and that would just move tanking from the bottom to the middle/top of the league. Rewarding losing is fundamentally broken and there is no ''fix'' to it. Silver just said they made progress on battling Tanking... Oh you did, cause to me it seems like this year has been the most blatant tanking season yet, what a great progress you made.

The Philadelphia 76ers are the worst franchise in the NBA

They actually did an impressive job tanking the season away since they already realized early that this core won't get them anywhere this season. That's smart decision-making.

I don't think it would help them much in the short term, with Embiid and PG in street clothes making 100+ million for the foreseeable future. A high pick this year, Maxey, McCain is a nice core for the future. But for the next three years, until Embiid and PG expire or are bought out, they are in purgatory. Their only chance to a title was in the Butler season.

People can feel how they want but Embiid's injuries are even more of a justification that we should "deserve" a lotto pick  Not to mention Mccain's. Oh yeah and there was Fultz. And the league replacing our very good GM with a very bad GM.
After further consideration I think we deserve #1

You realize CHA won 7 games in 2012? Worse than the Sixers in their worst process season, even after accounting for the shortened season. And beyond the worst season debate, we've been way better than the Hornets. Not to mention several other teams, it's really not a coherent suggestion

Mavs didn't win the lottery, they also should have been excluded from the lottery...
PHI should be given their seed but excluded from lottery odds.

Still they have been good for long, and teams like Wizards, Hornets and Jazz etc... should be the ones in contention for top 4 picks.
The goal of the draft is to reward bad teams a chance to get the best player, and the lottery is a way to sort these teams w/o encouraging losing, if a PO team becomes bad, they should stand in line and not jump before teams that have been bad for long.

It kind of doesn't feel fair for any team to get high lotto picks - especially a #1 pick with an elite level prospect available (expect of course for my team, who obviously deserves it).
You can make a case for any team not being deserving, either from already having too much young talent, having been too good too recently, or being too bad for too long.

So how many years they should wait, cause some of these teams first in line been in the lottery for maybe 10 years now I do not see the end. This whole help the bad teams idea is just an illusion at the end anyway, because most of these teams never improve. I hate draft and lottery system, it barely fix anything, but it sure does break a lot. But if you stick with the system and idea to help bad team, well, 76ers is pretty bad, so I do not see much difference between them and Wizards by now. I don't if its right to help Wizards more, when we ''helped'' them for many years now and they still trash. At one point team needs to start to TRY to be good, how much more lottery balls they need?

I think making PO in 3 of the last 4 is a good criteria, so a team like PHI will wait 2 years.
The team still picks a very high pick, for example, if PHI finishes 5th, they will likely pick 5th, or 6th (or 7th if 2 teams pass them, and then the pick goes to OKC), but they just don't have a chance at #1-#4.
