Jalen Johnson needs to finish a season healthy. If he keeps getting hurt when it matters most, then you need to upgrade his position.

As tempting as this sounds, Trae is an actual PG. Unlike players like Fox, Brunson, Lillard, Ja etc, Trae is a heliocentric player that can run an offense and take care of those guys offensively.

I don't know why you would trade him and then go tanking for another player like him. The only players who can do the same thing are Luka, Lebron, Jokic, Harden, and maybe Haliburton.

Hawks low key have a young starting lineup but since they’ve been mediocre since their ECF run and ppl only know about Trae they’re going to be listed as a treadmill team. Hawks are way too young to be a treadmill team or stuck imo. Jalen healthy with a leap from Risacher and no reason they can’t be an improving team.

Solid young core. Run it back with a healthy
Jalen and another year of development.

Trade Trae to the Magic for a ransom. It meet the needs of both teams.

I actually think it should be some of these young guys that should be traded, not Trae. Yeah sure they can improve, but who actually has all star upside on the team? IMO none of them.

Another...average season again for the Hawks. They had chances to win both play-in games but ultimately end up heading to an offseason with chances to improve the roster. With Jalen Johnson, this team looks a lot better and he was injured, so with more experience and continuity, I think we can bank on Atlanta being part of the play-off discussion but it still remains to be seen how far upwards they can go.


Risacher had an up and down year, but he did improve steadily and found his shot, he had some big games late on, however wasn't as effective in the play in games. I think he will have an upward trajectory as this team finds its direction.

Salaries can be rejiggered because Capela is off the books and Hunter, too. There's younger players here to use in the rotation and some money to use on other FAs. Atlanta has found some nice pieces including Dyson Daniels in the Dejounte Murray trade, and Okongwu has played well. I see Young/Daniels/Risacher/Johnson/Okongwu as at least a competent starting 5 and there could be other pieces to add.

There are a few picks in the draft, too, for ATL, and they can bring in some positional talent which might not elevate the team to championship contention now, but within a few years could be a contender. Young is someone the Hawks could for sure trade to re-vamp the entire scheme and roles on the team, but that's a massive deal if so.

you can't win championships with high-usage, stat-padding, defensive liabilities as your #1. Until Trae is sent out they stand no chance. Nothing else matters until that happens. The thing is, he's very popular and fills seats and that is the most important thing for NBA owners. I think they'll just have to hope Johnson comes back healthy, they hit on some solid role players in the draft and by keeping everyone together they can improve enough to at least make the playoffs so the owner can get that playoff money.

That doesn't improve Atlanta. Devin Booker is not a primary ballhandler (he plays terrible against double teams).

I don't agree with the Young trades. The Hawks have quietly assembled a nice core of young players and have the pieces in place to have great defenders around Young. Age wise, this group fits together as well.

Draft well, gets a Dillon Brooks type veteran on this team, add some size and I think the Hawks could be the surprise team of next season.
