Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. Who's gone?

Post#1 » by SUPERVILLAIN » Sat May 17, 2025 3:23 am

The Celtics are officially dead after getting demolished in Game 6.

It is a public secret that the Celtics are looking to lower salaries. Holiday and Porzingis are the ones that have been mentioned in trade talks the most.

Who do you think will not be on the roster next season?

Just an observation. Carry on :usa:

Yes
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
Keep Jrue and hopefully Kornet steps up.

An Anfernee Simons for Jrue Holiday trade would shave 5 million off of Boston's books (plus Simons is expiring). Holiday could be a good vet mentor for the young Blazers backcourt/team and still help them win games, even as an expensive backup/spot-starter.

Regarding Porzingis... I honestly don't know. But he is an expiring. Maybe Ainge will do them a solid for John Collins, if they add a pick (which would save Boston another 4 million).

If Jrue wants to go, trade him to a contender if possible.

Get anything you can for KP just get him and his contract away from anything remotely coloured green.

They probably try to move both. The odds of Tatum playing next season are slim, might as well get out of the 2nd apron.

Signing Tatum and Brown to 300M contracts is ridiculous. NBA contracts today are ridiculous. Only players that should get over 45M should be the one that literally sells hundreds of millions worth of merchandise, draw ratings and are top 3 NBA talent.

Celtics had two or 3 year window to dominate and win rings... but now that plan is done. Next season they will need to unload and I think both Porzingis and Jrue are out....
Heck they might even trade Jalen Brown. Teams like Rockets, Thunder depending on Game 7 outcome could offer Celtics good players and assets and cap relief for Brown.

The question is what can they get for them?

Teams will have health concerns about KP.
His illness has been going on too long, Celtics aren't even sure what he has, doesn't sound that enticing for other teams.

I would keep Jrue and trade KP and Hauser.
I assume Al Horford will retire.

KP is an expiring and easily movable.

Jrue is the sort of asset you have to attach assets with at this point. But they might luck out and deal with an inexperienced GM that neglects to check under the hood.

Hopefully both. Can we fire Joe too now? He's an elite assistant, but not a good HC.

The Celtic's after the meltdown in 23 and unpreparedness and just overall embarrassing effort in this years post season need a total make over.

I'll save my long post for the post mortum, but yes, KP and Jrue hopefully played their last games as Celtic's.

KP can't be relied on and doesn't rebound, and Jrue just doesn't do anything on this team, and doesn't bring the energy like he used to.

Jason Timpf suggested sending Jrue to Dallas for PJ Washington, and i think it makes sense for both sides.

Dallas needs a guard with no Kyrie, and Washington isn’t needed any longer with Flagg coming in. Boston needs a Wing next year to run with JB while Tatum is out.

They need an on ball creator without Kyrie, which Jrue isnt. And i dont think they can afford his thirty mill contract moving forward. They should be getting younger guys around AD/Kyrie, not another old player with availability issues on a big contract. Boston would have to pay to turn Jrue into an expiring, let along a starter level expiring in PJ

Hard pass for POR.

gotta love the celtics fans who think they will just be able to give away Jrue for a 10 year younger player without also including 3-4 FRPs to go with him

KP easy to move because hes expiring.
Jrue will be harder.
Sam gone too.
Al might retire with JT out and with us not being contenders.

How do they get rid of Porzingis without giving up an asset?
