Both small markets and you have a surprise underdog Hoosier team Vs the best record team but still a small market team in OKC that play tough defense with a superstar in SGA who is known for foul baiting.

I will, I like having 2 new teams in the finals.

I'm also a fan of both Hali and SGA. It'll be fun to watch those guys go at it.

Yes, I watch the finals unless something is going on personally. That said, I don't think people appreciate how small these two cities are. The combined population of metro Indianapolis and Oklahoma City is less than the population of the Twin Cities.

These are super tiny markets.

I have money on OKC, so I am definitely will watch. It just feels weird to be on NBA forum and ask will people watch NBA finals, like why shouldn't they?

NBA fan culture is weird. A lot of us seemingly prefer arguing about where players rank on a mythical list than watching games. And a lot of us who watch the games prefer focusing on the three refs than the 10 players on the court.

Strange question. One has to be a pretty hard-core basketball fan to be on a forum like this. But hard-core fans won't watch the NBA Finals because they're small-market teams? Just weird.

I feel like it would be a series where my interest would dwindle rather quickly after, say, game 2 due to two reasons. Number one and main reason is I think the Thunder are comfortably the better team and would handle the series with relative ease, secondly I just don't enjoy watching SGA hunt calls all that much.

Lucky for us, 3 refs will be on court in those finals. But seriously, I expect RealGM to do better than this thread, asking will you watch since it is small market team. This is not ESPN's First take fan forum, sad to see such stuff posted here, wtf?

why does market size have anything to do with watching a finals between two teams you're not a fan of? both of these teams are exciting, and for different reasons. the thunder are one of the best regular season teams of all-time and this could be the start of a long run for them, while the pacers are a team no one thought could get to the finals, was mediocre during the regular season and now has a cinderella run. both teams are young with lots of players who haven't been in the spotlight much.

how vapid do you have to be as a fan to not be interested in this potential series just because it's not LA or boston participating?

Yeah, but many polled Bucks beating Pacers, most thought Cavs would easily handle Pacers and many thought NY had an easy road to Finals but now find themselves down 1-3 and on verge of elimination unless a miracle happens.

It does not really matter to me what 'many' thought, I was always of the opinion that the Pacers were comfortably the third best team in the Eastern Conference, thus better than New York, and would easily beat the Bucks. I was also of the opinion that the Cavs/Pacers series was a lot closer than anticipated (though I did have Cleveland winning in 6, iirc).

I do not hold that same faith against the Thunder, and would view them as the overwhelming favourite.
