Dear Mr. Haliburton

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Sun Jun 1, 2025 2:45 am

I would like to take the time to apologize to you sir. For years I have mocked your name I called LaMelo Ball a flashy version of Hali even nicknamed him "Flashy Hali". The disrespect continued I would also call him "Halibutton" for **** and giggles. Well tonight the disrespect stops. You are no longer overrated in my eyes. You led your team to the Finals without a legit sidekick. You sir are truly a 1 of 1.

Congratulations Tyrese Haliburton you made me a believer. :D

The Haliburton disrespect ends tonight. Tonight he gets his flowers.

They say stars are made in the playoffs.

Hali has answered the call.

Props.

without a sidekick? Siakam was a #2 on a championship Raptors team and made all-nba teams. Turner is a top 10 center. They're arguably the deepest team in the NBA. Haliburton is not carrying this team. He's part of the whole. He never should have been thought of as overrated but let's not swing too far in the other direction.

Respect to the acknowledgement.

Too many people try to compare him to similar high assist players (Trae/Lamelo) when he does get the assists, but he is just more efficient. Doesn't have the turnovers or shooting % issues. His career TS% is 60.6%. For comparison ... Curry is 62.5%, Durant 62% He's just a touch behind the most efficient shooters of all time, so he doesn't waste possessions scoring. He doesn't turn the ball over, he doesn't waste possessions getting other guys involved. He's just an offensive machine in a way that affects winning.

The average NBA possession is 1.15 points per, I believe. Every turnover is handing points to the other team, and he does it so rarely.

Honestly this may be a blessing in disguise if I'm a Pacers fan.. it'll be more motivation to get hardware in the next round. Keeping that fire lit.

I know OKC would've preferred he wins EC Finals MVP.

Yep I had one of those threads and I'm a Pacers fan too. Thank you Tyrese for legendary playoff moments! Go get it!

“Without a legit sidekick” I like Hali getting all his flavours but that’s a ridiculous statement. Siakam won ECF MVP. If he’s not a sidekick then he’s the star or 1A/1B. What other label are you giving him? Dont need to grossly devalue Siakam to prop Hali up.

Hali had one horrible game in ECF's. Paskal had a subpar game every other game in the ECF. Hali did a great job of directing the offense.

It should have been Co-MVP's.

Does the the MVP cover the entire Eastern Conference run or just the ECF? If it was the entire conference plays, Hali probably should have won. I guarantee that Hali is happy for Paskal, Hali is team first kind guy.

I'm super happy for Paskal. Such a awesome player and leader. I don't think anyone will say it was not a great trade, ever again.

I don't get the Hali hate. Especially the fraud stuff and people STILL calling him overrated. That's just completely undeserved hate. I think some media hate also.

He's broke about 15 NBA records the last 2 seasons. All the high assist games with 0 turnovers. Broke several NBA playoff records this season.

Regardless of what happens in the finals, he has had a GREAT season. 3rd team All-NBA for the season straight season, could have been 2nd team this season. He's just 25. I'm sure the haters will come back if he struggles against the historic good OKC team though.

Random thought. Hali is the best PG for the next USA Olympic team. He's a special born passer.

I think Siakam legit played better in this series (they give out the award based on the conference finals as far as I know). 25/5/3.5 on 60% TS vs. Hali's 21/6/10 on 56.9% TS, and Siakam was the defensive anchor of the team. Hali was also good, but it's not like he had a legendary series.

I put money on both Haliburton and Brunson to win when the odds were low enough I'd make money no matter which one won.

I thought legit thought I was a genius. Glad it wasn't much.
