Which International players get All star bump next year (USA vs World all-stars 2026)

Post#1 » by UcanUwill » Wed Jun 4, 2025 6:00 pm

Assumingly report is true, and Assumingly they still field 12 guys.

Do we have 12 international all stars?

SGA, Luka, Victor, Giannis, Jokic, are totally fine, they are superstars. Put Embiid there if you want it too.

But who will be some other guys? Your thoughts? Will this work?

Some notable international players not mentioned in poll :

OG Anunoby, Rudy Gobert, Isaiah Hartenstein, Toumani Camara, Dyson Daniels, Josh Giddey, Jakob Pöltl, Deandre Ayton, Bilal Coulibaly, Bogdan Bogdanović, Santi Aldama,

Would be kind of weird for Embiid to be considered international when he plays on Team USA.

Still tho, I think they will count him as international, plus they have to reach it IMO, USA has deeper pool of all stars. Same why I put KAT as international, they will defeinitely put him as international IMO, kinda like how they put Ariza's son on world team in Nike Hoop summit, they are reaching sometimes at that point. And Embiid is still Cameroonian, he didn't disown that when he suited up for USA, I do not think he did. He is American and Cameroonian.
Honeslty, I think Embiids days are over anyhow, but I mentioned him because I knew there would be ''when healthy'' people...

It is NBA rules, not FIBA. Embiid was considered international before he chose Team USA. KAT represented USA in the Rising Stars games, so who knows what they'll do for marketing purposes.

Oddly enough, Kyrie Irving is listed here as a international player.

Everyone else faced with far less tenacity.

Same thing that's happening to Caitlin Clark.

For some reason, those days seem to be over. I am actually super surprised that Jordan Clarkson does not lead all star voting, considering, but he just does not. It seems like maybe after the rule change, psico fans from those countries just stopped trying. But we will see.

In general I feel there are at this point more than enough international players, if you consider Canada alone.

You have as you mentioned already 4 MVP level players with: SGA, Jokic, Luka and Giannis.
You have a bunch of players that already were recently All Stars with: Wemby, KAT, Sabonis, Siakam, Sengün
You have some players that might have made the All Star teams the last 2 seasons if it wouldn't been for injuries: Wagner, Porzingis
You have players that made All Star teams in the past and generally could still make another one with: Gobert, Markkanen, Wiggins

That is already 12 players that already were All Stars, or in Wagner's case would have very likely made the All Star game this year if he wouldn't have been injured.

Then we still have players that had seasons were an All Star nomination would have been possible in: Murray, OG
And a lot of players that are generally already either on track to become All Stars within the next 1-3 seasons, or at least have the potential in: Zubac, Avdija, Daniels, Giddey, Hartenstein, Barrett, Sharpe, Camara, Kuminga & Coulibaly

On top of that all the young players like Sarr, Buzelis, Sarr, Risacher & Sochan that could make that step as well.

From my perpespective there is at this point definitely enough of a talent pool and I also see it as the right choice.

I would say Deni and maybe Giddey if their games keep trending the way they have.

Maybe enough is the word, but I think All stars whould just make on merit, not country, and it is still the case where 13th. guy from USA that wont make, will be more deserving than 11th and 12th. guy on team world.

If Sabonis, Sengun, Avdija or Markannen make it, not like it is the end of the world, but thats what we scraping there at the bottom, and thats not that great for an all star,

In my opinion, All star game should just be cancelled and weekend replaced by IST final rounds. Basically, literally what Euros do, but what do I know.

On paper you are right, but if you go through the list of actual US players that you'd generally consider potential All Stars, there are quite a lot of them that have a lot of question marks related to health and age, so it isn't really as extreme as you think.

Age: Lebron, Curry, Durant, Harden, Butler, George
Injury: Tatum, AD, Embiid, Kawhi, Lillard, Kyrie, Ja, LaMelo, Zion, Holmgren, Lavine

Generally no concerns: Edwards, Brunson, Haliburton, Mitchell, Brown, Mobley, Cunningham, Banchero, Jalen Williams, JJJ, Bam, Booker, Garland, Maxey, Trae Young, Fox, Randle, Herro

There are of course a lot of players that additionally have the potential to make the next step next season, but considering the players where a decline is pretty possible, the players we either already know will be pretty much out for next year or at least for solid amount of time at the start of the season and the players that are unfortunately constantly struggling with injuries, the list of potential US All Stars isn't really as impressive.

An alternative option might also be to make multiple teams, kind of what happened this year and have an Eastern, Western, Rising Stars and a World selection. Wasn't really a fan of that format, though.
