Spurs could be scary with KD.

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Sat Jun 7, 2025 7:30 pm

Not sure if anyone notices, but they can get KD while keeping their young core together. I imagine the conversation begins with Fox as the main piece going to PHX. You can argue that alone is fair value for a aging KD. Throw in the #14 pick and maybe Vassell tho that might be an overpay.

The Spurs can realistically go into next season with Harper/Castle/Wemby + KD. :o

That's crazy to think about. The Spurs could very well be the favorites heading into next season.

I don't think they trade Fox so soon after somewhat forcing his way there half a season ago.

I'm not touching KD if I'm SA. You've got a stud coming in the draft to play with your potential all timer in Wemby. Just let them build chemistry together and keep working from future drafts. There's no way you're getting KD without Harper and Castle being involved.

I don't think KD's value is as high as you think it is. the scenarios i've seen have been something like Vassell + Barnes + 14 pick which i think would be a fine trade

you obviously don't consider giving up Harper or Castle for KD.

Unless he's coming there for free or they're swapping Fox for him, I don't see the point.

It is highly unlikely that Fox gets traded.

I don’t really think KD is much of a needle mover anymore for teams tbh. His numbers are pretty hollow.

If he is your 3rd best player, great… but the question is, would he be the 3rd best player on the Spurs? I don’t think so. Until he is, the Spurs can be considered a good team. The onus is on Fox, Castle and potentially Harper to be the 2nd banana.

Why already start mortgaging the future? It's way too early to even consider that. And for an old KD ... I'd only consider it playing 2K when you're building a team for just one season, and there is absolutely no future beyond that, it's a cool fit and a good team. You'd have to be the worst GM on the planet to mess up what SA has started.

There's no way Suns trade KD without getting one of them in return.

The suns would get Castle + 14 or #2 and 2 FRP and filler.

the Suns options are to trade KD for some secondary assets like Jalen Green or Vassell + #14, trade him for another vet player like Julius Randle, or not trade KD at all and let him walk for nothing next summer. They are never getting premium assets like Amen Thompson or Castle for a 36 year-old KD, that's just never happening.

The end result of all of this is not going to be some bidding war for KD, it's going to be the Suns gradually lowering and lowering their price until they finally reach a level where other teams are willing start negotiating.

Suns are screwed whatsoever, other teams need him more than the Suns atm.

Based on this thread, Suns fans are going to be disappointed with the return they get from a soon to be 37 year old KD.

Does Castle play PG in this scenario?

Castle/Booker doesn't seem like an ideal fit.
