Big keep by Houston. At a good price too. He proved to be a really valuable piece this season and in the Playoffs.

Nice, lower than expected.

Figured there would be MLE offers and we would have to come in over MLE to keep him.

New league, have to have guys overplay thier contract values. Could be a nice trade asset as well if we draft Maluach.

Love it.

That's a great contract for both sides imo. Steven Adams gets the bag one final time, and Houston keeps their bruiser back-up big man. Adams is still a high-level player and a guy every team would love to have.

Smart move to not let him get to the open market.

Seems like a well liked guy, and I was thinking his career might be in jeopardy given his knee recovery seemed to go well off track + considering his size. Good for him to be back healthy and get a real nice chunk of change playing on what is now a perennial playoff team.

Another reason why I hate the new cba. If you use the full MLE you cannot become a tax team for the rest of the season. Without that rule I could see teams offering full MLE

That dude must be so stoked. The 3rd year is a gift to him. I can't imagine he will be playable at that point. Another example of how much players can make in the playoffs.

The old CBA was similar. There was just 1 apron and the BAE, the full MLE, or receiving a player via sign and trade used to hard cap teams.

Sorry, I meant I prefer the cba before all the apron rules were introduced. I hate the first apron too.

Good value for the Rockets and Adams.
Extending him solves many holes and now they can proceed forward.

Excellent for the minutes he plays. Another team would overtax him through the season, but when he finally got his conditioning up to speed he was a NetRtg king for the Rockets. The double big lineup was +20 in the regular season and the postseason. The Rockets have the ability to load manage him through the season so he ramps up during the most important stretches of the next three seasons. It's a win-win for both sides, helps us build on our best lineup of last season and helps him retain longevity.

I knew he was coming back. Udoka used him so well and his role was easily defined. He had good synergy with Alpie and FVV as well.

Good. Fantastic actually. I did NOT want to see him accept a minimum. He has much more left in the tank than to designate himself as a minimum contract ring chaser like some other bigs have done, albeit Adams is better than most other bigs in this conversation. I still can't believe people thought he's only worth a minimum, and thankfully Houston agreed. I'd of hated to see him in purple and gold or green making 1.99M/yr

Outstanding obstruction to the rim, rim deterrence, his presence is felt. Elite rebounder.

Not effective as a big time switcher or having to chase after guys on the perimeter

Since an extension rather than going to FA does that make him tradable right away? I thought I remember there be some loophole with that?

Solid for both sides. Good deal financially and filling out roster with a tank.
