Do you think the Grizzlies should blow it up for picks?

Post#1 » by mdonnelly1989 » Tue Jun 17, 2025 1:21 am

Do you think they should try to get as many first rounders for Ja and JJJ?

Imagine having like 15+ 1st rounders over the next 3 years

Ja Morant and JJJ weren’t much better than Desmond Bane.

Seems silly to sell low on Morant. And they're already a young team

Wells progresses and Morant returns to form, and they can beat their win total from last year. Nothing wrong with strategically selling off a player to extend your window while still trying to improve if you're not quite a title contender. The Spurs did it in 2011 trading off George Hill, and it worked out for them

I've said this before but I have one hope for my fellow RealGM posters: you find someone who loves you as much as this place love tanking.

Ja Morant / Cole Anthony / Scotty Pippen Jr.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope / John Konchar
Jaylen Wells / Vincent Williams Jr
Jaren Jackson Jr. / Brandon Clarke / G.G. Jackson
Zach Edey / Santi Aldama / Jay Huff

Nah I wouldn't blow it up. I would build from here.

REALGM posters would ban all teams that get between 30 and 50 wins

Nah

They still have an elite big. A PG who is 25 years old and made all NBA (Not a fluke, but fair if you have queries on him)

A decent young C, a decent Wing prospect who finished 3rd in ROY. Then a guy in GG who's a very young wing and another potential piece

Bane is great but gives you the ability to re-tool, pay JJJ and potentially you go another year or two and if you struggle you have a DPOY level PF and some young wings to trade who will still be 23/25 and hitting their prime.

No reason to blow it up.

No. It is a long road back from the very bottom.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

They are very smart. They are truly one of the great drafting teams in the leagues. They should make sure they have multiple shots every year. Bane was a late first that they turned into like five firsts. Just rinse and repeat.

Pretty much. A max (or near max) extension for him caps the ceiling as similar to what happened this year with this duo. Make playoffs, get beat by better team, complain that our players aren't good enough.

People who say the Grizz should blow it up have an hidden agenda aka hoping their team trades for Ja or JJJ at a discount price.

absolutely. They gave this "Big Three" a chance and it came up short. No point overpaying to keep it together when they're clearly not capable of winning a championship. They should trade Ja and JJJ and tank hard for the loaded 2026 class. Fans would completely understand so they have political cover to do it.

SMH. When I read one of the results of the Bane trade would likely be giving JJJ more money.

Just plain loco.

Going all in on Ja and JJJ is certainly a choice.

A team really could get 12 high 1st round picks and additional assets

They got 4 1st round picks for Bane
They have their own picks
JJJ is worth more than Bane (4)
Edey is worth more than Bane (4)
Morant is worth more than Bane (4)
