Ace Bailey 0 workouts.

Post#1 » by Knightfall » Thu Jun 19, 2025 9:08 am

Ace Bailely cancelled his workout with the sixers on friday. Shocking because rumor has it the Sixers are liking Edgecomb and hes been hanging around Maxey also.

With this cancelation do the sixer move on and puck Edgecomb. Is Ace still the selection? If hes not then where does he land? Charlotte? Utah? Does a team trade for him?

Wondering why hes choosing to miss workouts at the last minute. Or does he feel hes a lock for the sixers.

It might be a guarantee but it also seems like a few knucklehead/prima donna red flags are popping up with this cat, apparently he hasn't endeared himself to some teams in interviews and he has been sliding down mock drafts as well.

We'll see...

I wonder what's the motivation behind that. If he doesn't want to go to the Sixers, why hasn't he worked out for other teams (and arranged a workout with the Sixers in the first place)?

We'll see. Draft is next week.

VJ looks like a smaller less offensively apt Ant or Oladipo.

Ace can turn into anyone from Josh Jackson to Paul George (which I can see scaring holders of pick #3-5).

He either has a promise from Philly or he's tanking his value to go to Utah or Washington.

I think he's trying to get to Atlanta or Brooklyn

Hawks could use 13+22 to move in to top 10.

Nets are at 9 but could get higher with moves.

Cam Whitmore 2.0.

This kid is either getting some bad advice or there’s something else going on. Injury maybe?

Feels like a Tyrese Haliburton situation where he has a specific team in mind that he wants to be a part of.

Not a bad comp in that both players have some rare scoring gifts but are zero's when it comes to passing and basic team basketball. At least with Whitmore he was getting to the rim. Ace only produces ridiculously tough pull ups. He might as well be constantly shouting "kobe!" all game.

He has pretty good size (6'7.5" barefoot, 7'0.5' wingspan) and a solid athletic profile. If he can learn to play normal basketball, he has star potential. It's just a bit crazy how little there is to his game right now.

He also reminds me of GG Jackson, Jabari Smith Jr (less defense), and Cam Reddish.

I think he wants Brooklyn given his personality and he’s trying to make it easier for them to trade up to select him.

I bet on him going third, so I hope that happens, but as a guy whop hasn't seen any of these college kids play, but listened to NBA bigboard draft podcast all year, this guy seems like the bust of the draft.

Cam WHitmore would be pretty good, i think that guy is decent he just doesnt get much chance in Houston. Of course he can't pass tho. I feel Ace will be worse than Whitmore, more like Cam Reddish or Josh Jackson, but again, I haven't seen that kid play even, I just go by what I heard all year from other people. Even when people are high on him on these podcasts, I feel like they are selling obvious bust, IDK, maybe I am way wrong.

I've rarely seen a more obvious draft bust.

What’s particularly concerning about these character red flags to me is that they align with his on court red flags: not a team player, wants to be the star etc. Maybe it’s a nothingburger and he’s just trying to use what leverage he has to get himself to his preferred team, which is his right to do. But it seems unlikely he’ll have the mentality to be a role player, it’s star or bust for Ace

I’d take a lot of what the draft guys say with a grain of salt. They’re trying to push narratives as well and aren’t immune to group think. I’d trust a guy like Jonathan Givony who’s also connected with front office execs to not overthink Ace Bailey. I think Bailey is getting some really bad advice with the whole process.

Well let’s not overthink this.. Steph Curry refused to workout for the Warriors because he wanted to be a Knick.

Players have always done this.

One of the most notable ones was Steve Francis and his primadonna refusal to play in Vancouver as well.

Bailey likely wants to go to a particular team or has a promise. End of story.

Like it been said there are always big busts in the top 5 or 7 picks. I just hope that the Spurs and Harper isn’t one of them.

It's not just the refusal to do workouts. It's also the fact that Ace was a black-hole offensive player in college, which Steph was not, and that reports are circulating that Ace's discussions with FOs have led to concerns about his character, which was also not an issue with Steph.

So, not really the right comparison.
