I have a feeling the voters are going to give Jalen Williams Finals MVP due to American bias/ SGA hate. So far their numbers in the finals through 5 games:

SGA 32.4 PPG / 4.6 REB / 5.0 AST / 2.4STL / 1.8BLK on 47.2 FG% / 26.3 3PT% / 93.2 FT% ***
JDub 25.8PPG / 5.6 REB / 4.2 AST / 1.0 STL / 0 BLK on 47.1 FG% / 33.3 3PT%/ 84.9 FT%

If it wasn't for J Dub's Khris Middletonesque 40pt game it really wouldn't be even close.

SGA winning Finals MVP puts him in an elite category becoming one of the very few to win NBA championship, scoring champion, regular season MVP and finals MVP (also new conference mvp) this early in his young career idk if the league handlers want that. It doesn't fit their script IMHO.

This one could have stayed in your head. SGA got it.

Shai is too consistent to not win it. The only scenario in which he doesn't win it is 3/16 FG from SGA and strong performance from J-Dub at the same time.

The numbers don't say anything but Shai as the Finals MVP. Shai is the best player on his team. Period. The only chance JDub has is if the series goes to 7, Thunder winning, Shai disappearing with JDub taking over. Not happening.

Game 4.

So there was no bias in SGA winning the season MVP but now all of a sudden there's going to be a bias against him not winning the Finals MVP... This whole league is rigged movement is getting out of hand.

Jalen Williams +775 ($100 pays $775)

SGA will get it regardless. Voters will never get over the shame of the most egregious FMVP robbery during its 10-year anniversary (Warriors role player Iguodala winning it over a transcendent superstar Curry).

Williams over SGA won't be anywhere near as egregious cus he's actually scoring at a not much worse level, but the dumb voters I believe learned from their mistake from 10 years ago in not giving it to the best player on the team.

Unless Jdub drops a 50 piece tonight this is easily SGAs award

The numbers are close enough that if SGA has a dud and Williams has another star performance to lead them to victory he could win it, but SGA never has duds. Also 2.4 STL and 1.8 BLK is insane lol

First off, SGA's getting it. No question

But there is a reason for this thread to exist. The problem is that finals MVP voting is done by 11 media members. So they can throw logic and statistics to the way-side and insert their emotional reasoning that fits the narrative. We need to stop with this voting crap and just use plain statistics and impact metrics.

This thread feels like a "slightly" lesser version of when people were questioning if Middleton would win FMVP over Giannis

This is a case of OP not doing something as simple as looking at the current stats of these two. Williams would have to outscore SGA by 30-40 points tonight for him to gain the statistical advantage.

Even if someone wants to make a statistical argument for Williams (which, I don't know what it is right now), I think you've gotta remember SGA is the MVP and primary ball handler, and thus getting the most attention from the defense and dealing with more responsibilities and pressures. So him imo.

Shai would need to put up a dud while JDub has another 40 piece for this to be a conversation for a few reasons.
