What are the worst nicknames in the NBA?

To my way of thinking, 'Hologram' is tops (bottoms); it's awful.

What does it mean? He's so good at basketball that he's not even real-- he's just a projection of light!

It's not a good nickname just because it sounds similar to the real name; if that's the logic, 'Home-grown' (also dumb) would be better than 'Hologram'-- he's so good at basketball that it's like he was born and raised right there on the court!

Which nicknames drive y'all crazy?

SGA - Just a combo of his initials which is lame

Spida - what about Mitchell's game is spider-like?

Swipa - Fox is my guy but this is a lame name

Knecht Four - what does that even mean? 4 what? (edit: I know it's a reference to the kid's game but what does that have to do with the player or the game of basketball?)

A couple of former players' would be Boogie and Big Baby. Always thought those were dumb

any initials+jersey number combo that doesn't have an extra meaning to it (e.g. AK47, PG13)

edit: ok apparently i can't write properly. i meant that ONLY AK47 and MAYBE PG13 make sense. rest of them don't

I know it's a kid's game but I don't understand how it's relevant as an NBA nickname, it's just forced to me

I've always thought AK47 was pretty slick because he's Russian, the Kalashnikov rifle was developed in the Soviet Union, and he was considered a good shooter.

I've always assumed PG13 was a reference to the American film rating, though if so, I can't figure out what it's supposed to say about George's game. Should younger children not watch him play?

no i meant that those 2 nicknames make sense (AK47 much more so than PG13) but even stuff like CP3 doesn't

and the PG13 is kinda eh, you can just talk yourself into any meaning cause PG13 is a real thing

I'm actually a big cat guy and don't mind the nickname. I happened to stumble across that pic the other day and just wanted to post it more than anything haha.

Free Throw Merchant doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. He needs a better nickname though, you're right.

My mistake-- I didn't read your post closely enough!

I agree with you-- unless there is an extra layer of meaning, calling a guy by his initials and number for no reason is silly; 'CP3' isn't any easier or faster to say than 'Paul' or even 'Chris Paul.'
