Dwight's comment is stupid. Jordan's head would be at the rim at 42". Another six inches would just have him at the top of the box, which is two feet tall.

The hell is he even saying? And it's not like Dwight was maxing his vert in-game either.

He needs to sit down and STFU.

Do you even know how big of a difference 6 inches is? That would also be a running vert. The 48 number is just something people online made up.

Dwight is right

Darius Clark has a 50 inch vertical video on YT and he was clearly over the backboard. MJ didn't have that kind of vertical leap.

It could be exaggerated, but honestly it doesn't even really matter, all we need to know is that he had a really high vertical, the exact specific number is truly not that relevant.

Earl “The Goat” had a 52” vertical.

Jordan’s vertical was measured at North Carolina as 39 or 40 inches I forget which. His running vertical at North Carolina without the ball was measured at 46 inches. Tim Grover said he measured Jordan’s vertical in 1989 at 38 inches. You think he added 10 inches to his vertical at some point in the pros?

Well was his head ever 6 inches above the rim?

1 ring adds 1 inch. 2, if we count vertical

Exactly. MJ was super athletic, everybody that watches footage with him can see that. Who cares about these numbers? Especially when this is related to situations that date back 30-40 years.

Grover claims he eventually got Jordan up to a 48 inch vertical in the 90’s, laughable claim considering 90s Jordan never showed anywhere near that ability: https://www.si.com/edge/2014/10/16/tim-grover-talent-isnt-enough

Everything is exaggerated in the NBA.

Didn't think anyone still believed that figure.

Jordan had great body control in the air which made him look like he was floating but he never got much higher than any of the other NBA high flyers in NBA history.

A 48’ vert would put Jordan’s head half a foot above the rim, which he obviously never came close to doing. He probably peaked around 40, if that.

The only guys with 48’ verticals are those 5’11 YouTube dunkers. NBA players are too big to get up that high.

This is what separates MJ. He doesn’t talk like all these other former players and moves in silence. True goat

Jordan and Wilts vert are greatly exaggerated. Jordan peak max running vert is 43" if that. Wilt is prob 37 38" max if that. Nowhere close to 50".

Vieux Sanneh 6'4 highschool hooper class of 2025 has a legit 50" max running vert and you could use him as a reference to gauge players max vert.

Lol at the math. He just runs and postures up vertically so he's 6 foot 6 mid air?
