He shoots an incredible flat three pointer. i never expect it to go in.

Didn't he have a wrist injury soon after? Might've affected his mechanics?
He's had a lot of different injuries over the years. Hes still very early into his career.
He has a lot of upside and potential left.

In these clips, his shots has more arc and overall is much smoother. I cannot imagine chet shooting off the dribble with his current shot

Dude is just having a bad stretch. He will be fine. Typically happens when you are young.

I don’t have a current video for reference, but was it changed to increase his release speed?

If it was, it had the exact opposite effect. His release is slower now.
And the poster above is clearly joking but adding muscle mass/working out a lot could technically alter your 3 point shot. Extreme examples but Gabe Kapler and Ruben Sierra probably negatively impacted their baseball careers getting into body building. I can't see this being a problem for Chet though. He's not Jay Cutler.

His release is pretty slow. Probably tried to adjust it for the speed of the NBA, and it messed it up in the process.

Chet is very coordinated, fluid and skilled for his size but he’s not a great athlete and has an underwhelming frame. Clearly worth his draft position but it’s hard to imagine him becoming a top-10 guy.

Giannis used to have a much smoother shooting stroke as well.. before he bulked up ..
Now he has that awkward form

College line is shorter, and he shot 39% not 40. He has shot 173/465 (.372 3PT%) from three over 114 RS games, including 21/59 (.356) from the corners & 152/406 (.374) from above-the-break. 0/3 on heaves. Additionally, he's made 319/409 (.780 FT%) from the FT line in that same stretch. His college FT% was 71.7, so I'm not seeing clear indicators of a decline in production.
The playoffs are a small sample and the three-point shot is high variance. His FT shooting in the postseason is in line with the larger RS sample. I'd give Chet some grace for his play this season; that broken hip threw his momentum off. I think he can reach another level offensively, but it'll require continued strength & conditioning.

Not everyone can be a top 10 guy but he's a player every team would like to have. He'll be in that 2nd tier of players, but he should be near the top of it because his skill set would be harder to replace.
He sort of reminds of Kristaps in that Kristaps was once hyped to be a top 10 guy too (and injuries). A lot of that projection was based on height. Obviously the skill is there too but if they were 6'8 they aren't getting that type of projection.

Trying to gain strength definitely messes with your shot, seen it countless times. Chet’s shot looks really slow and flat, his handle is loose, and like the others said his frame & athleticism are not what you expect from a pro athlete. It don’t think he’s going to make another leap as a player or be able to gain much strength. That frame is probably the worst I’ve ever seen, so weak and it looks like he has an inverted chest even.

In the last game I saw his 3 point shot blocked earlier and it definitely was in his head after. He lost his confidence in the last one and needs to bounce back quickly.
I agree his stroke used to be a bit smoother, I still wish he shot the pull up three more in transition.

I guess adding 10-15 pounds of muscle leads to a reduction of 10-15 % in 3 point shooting

in life when there is change in goals, the old memories have to adapt to new ones because the body and mind are in another gear another space. and the environment you create both physically and mentally changes.
old ways just DON'T WORK ANYMORE. you can look back at the things you did and say "damn i did good things"
that was then, this is now. like it or not you adapt for better AND worse. if you are better now you are so because you have changed in all manner of ways
chet is in the pros now and he has other more specific responsibilities. he is not the man anymore.
did you know kyle anderson was a 40% 3pt shooter in college. he did every thing for UCLA. i would have to go back as far as klove and then further back to wicks to find someone as multi-skilled and who had to carry as much of a load

The problem isn't the production, it's the product. His new shot doesn't allow him to shoot over the defense, and it doesn't allow him to shoot off the dribble. He is basically a standstill shooter now, which is not what people expected from him as a prospect. It puts a huge cap on his offensive ceiling and I don't see him averaging more than 20 points a game at this rate

He was blocked at least twice in these finals, shooting a 3. Guy is around 7'1 if not taller, and he gets his 3 pointer blocked. I do not have faith in his shot now, and it really got worse over the span of his early career.
