Does it hurt KD’s legacy that Curry won with Wiggins as the #2?

The Warriors didn’t have too hard of a time keeping things going once Klay got healthy.

the warriors did have a hard time. they were in the lottery the next year and then lost the play-in the following year. don't rewrite history.

Just a bit. We already knew KD's rings weren't gonna mean that much when he join a 73 win team that barely gave up anything to get him. The 2022 title was more about Steph than anything to do with KD.

Wiggins > Durant

Yes, it does. Curry winning a title on non-dominant team as a first option is something that Durant has never done, and up to that point they were compared to each other since 2016 on daily basis.

He'd already done that in 2015. I don't think the non-dominant caveat makes much of any difference when the 2015 team had the same core as the 2022 team(with post prime Klay/Wiggins/Poole). Its just him showing he could have a great finals while doing it.

Does it hurt realGM's legacy that we are talking about KD's legacy when game 7 of the finals is in an hour?

Yeah, but roster in 2015 was stronger than in 2022, and his performance against Cavs wasn't great (he was still robbed of FMVP though). That's why there was a serious discussion in 2017-2019 period about Durant vs Curry (not saying it was legit, it's just a fact) - there's no such convo since 2022. And Warriors' winning as much as they won with KD is another argument against Durant.

So yeah, 2022 actually matters quite a lot to the KDs perception.

He won with Klay thompson as a #2 and wiggins as #2. Meanwhile KD hasn't won a ring without curry.

I'm just saying the 2015 ring still counts as Steph showing he could win it as a #1. Even without the 2022 ring you could still easily make that argument for him. There was still discussion around them in 2017 mainly because KD was so well established as a top 2/3 player by then and Steph had just broken out a few years earlier. 2022 was more or less the final nail in the coffin between them unless KD had found a way to get it done in BKN.

It hurts KD’s legacy that he only won by joining a 73 win team, which he blew a 3-1 lead to and finished 3rd in GmSc in that series, that won a title before and after him, and he hasn’t reached the conference finals since leaving them.

I don’t understand how some people have him as a top 10 player.

No.

Guess what - nothing another player does can hurt someone else’s legacy. It only increases their legacy (in this case, Wiggins and Steph’s comparatively).

It doesn’t take anything away from KD’s.

Has no impact on KD's legacy.

KD's rings didn't grant him the same boost to his legacy that other historically great players who won rings got. He won on a team that won 73 games without him. To me, he is no different than the likes of Charles Barkley or Ewing who took their teams to the finals but never won a ring, but he is a better individual player than those two were.

When he left in 2016 he not only joined a stacked team, he effectively also removed one their biggest competition (OKC).

It does improve your standing as a bad poster making this thread when the last game of the season is moments away.

Wiggins was arguably more important than Curry in the finals. His defense is what won that series.

If you want to take that stance, okay, but what I find comical is that posters who discount KD's rings don't do the same with Curry and Co. In the KD as their Alpha years...can't have it both ways (not calling MrBigShot out - but just pointing out in general how most fans are inconsistent with their approach).

It hurts my own legacy reading more nonsense legacy threads.
