Just another casual heartbreak for Pacers fans

Post#1 » by yoadknux » Mon Jun 23, 2025 3:27 am

The team that could have, should have, would have, lost.

Took the Jordan Bulls to 7 games, took the Big 3 Heat to 7 games, took OKC to 7 games. Another "much respect, no rings" run.

On top of that, Haliburton joins the list of broken Indiana Pacers franchise players - Jermaine O'Neal, Danny Granger, Paul George and Victor Oladipo.

I don't know what to say anymore. Worst ending.
"I’ve seen a guy that played for the Pacers, gave them everything they had, or everything he had, and was essentially traded to the dogs. And I’m speaking on Danny Granger, who was one of the better players in Pacers history"

Don't forget losing Game 4 in 2000 despite Shaq fouling out, the Malice at the Palace, and the year 2014 in general.

The Hali situation is by far the worst among those.

Things like losing to Jordan in game 7 or LeBron’s heat I don’t really find as a heartbreak as the bulls and heat were the better team. A lot of teams have had those in their history.

Malice at the palace was brutal as the pacers had a legit championship team that season only to throw it away.

I will forever believe that we would have won the title in 2005 if not for the Malice at the Palace. We had battled the Pistons in the ECF the year before very closely, and added Steven Jackson who was absolutely balling out; the Malice was the big rematch between the ECF teams and we beat the living hell out of them. It was Reggie's final year and they were going to win a ring for him. And then it all collapsed. That one hurts more than any of the others.

Was just about to say this. Malice at the Palace ruined what the Pacers had going for them. They had quite the team that year and one night ruined the entire season and then some.

Reggie cites that games impact on their fight here;

Him saying to this day I'd probably still take a swing on Mike if I saw him cracked me up the first time I saw this
