I didnt watch the draft but im just catching up here. This is a diabolical trade. I understand getting your guys, and I actually like Queen, but the Hawks must have just held in their laughter until they hung up on this trade. No fricken way should hte Hornets be in a position to trade unprotected picks.

One of those deals where incompetence looks like fraud. If the Hawks end up with a top 4 pick in next year's stacked draft, man it's over in New Orleans.

They need to send dumars to a home. He has no idea what he’s doing. This trade is straight irresponsible.

Maybe Dumars figures either the 13th pick will be really good and we’ll be good, or it won’t work out and I’ll get fired, in which case I won’t care about the Pels not having a pick.

I truly can't fathom how you could let the Hawks bully you into not protecting that pick at all.

Like, of course the Hawks would have still said yes even if you made it top 5 protected and that was the bare minimum thing to do to cover your *ss.

Now there be added pressure on Queen to perform next season too which is very unfair on the kid

Devastated for Pels fans tbh

Not saying it's a good trade but people are obsessing over it being the 13th pick. The trade was for Derik Queen, that's what we shold evaluate. Lots of people had him as a top-7 or so guy and the Pels clearly believed that. They thought he was super valuable and are aware they were overpaying relative to draft position—because they were after that player and not the draft position. It seems like that was the price they had to pay to get him and they thought he was worth it.

Newly acquired Jordan Poole will save them from the lottery

On a serious note I have doubts about the fits but I do like a handful of the Pelicans players. If they stay healthy maybe they can surprise some.

Dumars must believe in Queen and the team.

How competitive will a team of Zion, Fears, Queen, Missi, Trey Murphy, Jordan Poole and Herb Jones be? They're relying on two rookies and Zion's health.

The other part of the trade is it's the best out of the 2026 New Orleans or Milwaukee pick. What if something happens and Milwaukee is worse than expected? or if one of those two teams get lucky in the lottery?

Do you think he'll work well with Zion? Or will he play when Zion is out or on the bench?

I might be in the minority, but I’m way more worried about the Milwaukee side of it. The roster is so old and barren that Giannis getting hurt or fed up they might be a bottom dweller quick.

The Pelicans would have to have their top 7 players miss 30-60 games each again. We’re notoriously jnjury prone, but it was a rough year even for us. I think it’s more likely we’re just really average than losing 60 games.

Which is what makes it all the worse. They are getting two lottery shots out of it. Both NO and Milwaukee might be alright, but also have disastrous scenarios.
