CP3 To Indiana is a match made in heaven

Post#1 » by yoadknux » Thu Jun 26, 2025 3:54 pm

Pacers were two quarters away from winning it all in 24-25. Haliburton is expected to miss most if not all of 25-26. Siakam, Nesmith, Nembhard, Mathurin, TJM, Toppin are under contract and Turner is expected to re-sign with the team.
CP3 won't need to score too much, just be a pass-first point guard like he always was, and won't really need to play heavy minutes as Nembhard could also run point.
It really is the best fit I could think of for both parties - one last shot of getting a ring for CP3 and staying competitive until Hali returns for the Pacers.

Not really, Chris Paul plays at a slow pace. On the Warriors things only worked when he was the backup and they did what he is used to. He's not good for a fast paced team, especially at his current age.

CP3 is the slowest player in the league. Not really a good fit for a team that plays with a lot of pace like Indy imo. If you want to play incredibly slow then sure

They won 3 quarters of that game 7. If they hadn't pooped themselves in the 3rd, they had a title.

Dunno if slow, old CP is a sensible match for how they play, but it couldn't hurt to see if he has the juice to give them 25 mpg to drive them forward in Hali's absence. Small contract, one-year deal like he did with the Spurs... he hasn't seemed to care about team quality, so it would be an interesting experiment, anyway.

Ehhh the Pacers will probably just start Nembhard at point and start Mathurin at SG. McConnell playing the backup point guard minutes. It should be a good developmental opportunity for Nemby to have the reins for a year.

there's actually a bunch of teams likely clamoring for his services because at this point his price tag due to age and injury history is finally affordable. He probably gets his pick of contenders to choose from where he can either start or get a good amount of minutes. Or, he could make a little more money, play for a tanking team the first half of the season playing major minutes and then get traded to a contender at the trade deadline to chase a ring. Pacers, Wolves, Magic, Pelicans, Suns, Heat, Mavs and Bucks all should be in on it.

I wonder if IND would be interested in a out of shape Jamal Murray and perhaps MPJ. Get a a third team involved and Denver off the treadmill

CP3 will be in LA he said he's prioritizing his family on this decision. Sounds like a guy who wants to be home with his family for a change.

I think he's either a Laker or Clipper

Him with either would be interesting. Back with the Clippers, or running with Old Man Lebron to see how aged and ridiculous they can make the team. xD

I guess. I truly think it’s time for him to retire and just coach or something

I think he would be good for New York, Milwaukee, Denver. Teams with questionable benches I think he would work well with there star players.

That's what I'm hoping for. Try to find a good 3rd PG to develop.

I like our two-way G-League guy Q. He's more PG than 2 guard IMO. Not high on other 2-way guy RayJ.

Tankathon has us picking Tyrese Proctor 6'5" Duke PG. I'd be good with that pick. I was hoping for C Ryan Kalkbrenner with our newly acquired 38th pick.

Little Nembhard at 54.

I think Dallas is a good landing spot for CP3. Help get them through the Kyrie-less first few months and then settle into a bench role. With their size they're well suited for a slower pace anyway.

CP3 has declined dramatically over the last few years, as aging players do. He is good for 20-25 mins off the bench to the run the 2nd unit but he's not a guy you want headlining your starting 5. And the pacers already have one of the best back up PGs in the league.

I will be surprised if Chris Paul goes anywhere further East than San Antoino due to home being in Los Angeles.

Just a reminder that CP3 is 40 yesrs old.

Even young CP didn't play fast, older CP is not a match made in heaven for a team trying to play very fast. Maybe you could convince him to do so if he's only playing 15-20 mpg and he has nothing to pace himself for, but even then, it's also about mentality.
