This feels like a stretch to claim watching him since his rookie season.

You've been watching basketball since you were two years old?

Derrick Rose looked like a future HOFer. He was more fun than even Westbrook to watch. Something about the way he moved in the air. He was just special. Those were great times for Bulls fans. His playoff debut against the defending champion Celtics was the best.

Shai does not belong on this list. He is a 2 guard masquerading as a PG.

It is certainly getting harder to rank players by position as basketball becomes more positionless. It used to be arguments about whether Duncan was a PF or Center. Then we had “Steph is not really a PG.” Then Harden transitioned from SG to PG. Now we have Shai, Luka, and even LeBron gets mentioned as a PG by many. Soon, this concept will either need further expanded or abandoned.

Started following the NBA in 1997 (didn't really understand basketball at any acceptable level until the 2000s but, I'll still go from there.)
1. Steph Curry
2. Chris Paul
3. Steve Nash
4. James Harden
5. Jason Kidd
6. Luka Doncic
7. Chauncey Billups
8. Russell Westbrok
9. Allen Iverson
10. Kyle Lowry
I'm going off total career value (rather than just prime), so guys who are still playing are still climbing the lists. After this championship, I moved Shai Gilgeous-Alexander up the list (#74 on my all-time list of players, one spot under Lowry.) Other point guards on my list who just miss the top 10 cut are: Jrue Holiday, Tony Parker, Kyrie Irving, Dame Lillard. A close cut is Sam Cassell, who's rookie season was a couple years before I watched any basketball (but he was available as a bonus player on the Houston Rockets in NBA Jam TE once you beat the game).

Began watching in the late 80's. My first real season was Magic's 88-89 MVP season.
In no order:
Kidd
Nash
Luka
SGA
Billups
Payton
Harden
Curry
Westbrook
Paul
I was always a huge Penny fan but he played a lot of 2 after his first few seasons. AI probably did his best work as a 2. Magic and Stockton would easily be on my list if I could.

Born in mid eighties
Steph
Chris Paul
Kidd
Nash
Westbrook
Tony Parker
Deron Williams
Dame Lilliard
Kyrie Irving
Honorable mention - Baron Davis who at his peak can a stick with pretty much anyone here in a playoff series at his peak.
Have a heard time including Steph and Lilliard as point guards. Def don’t include SGA as a point guard.

1. Magic

3. Oscar
4. Nash
5. Isaiah
6.Clyde
7.Payton
8. CP3
9. Westbrook
10.Kidd
I don't view guys like SGA, Curry, Iverson, West, Holiday or Luka as point guards. They are small shooting guards even though they played the point. Calvin Murphy was another guy like that. Westbrook is on the cusp, and I probably should have replaced him with someone like Lenny Wilkins.

A few years older, started watching in the mid-1970s.
The only change I'd make to your list is to take out (shooting guard) AI and replace him with Sydney Moncrief

The first 6 I listed are traditional PGs, the bottom 4 are sort of combo guards.
I am not sure I would include Moncrief, he was a great player, I did not include Bilups also a great player.
