No one has the capspace for that, so 12-13 for two years, then try again to be a free agent when the books look better might be the wave.

It is amazing how much the nba landscape has changed and now players like grimes can get 8 figure salaries each year.

As a Sixer fan I am expecting a bit more than the exception (14m) 15-17 million.

The question what does grimes want does he want a longterm deal in a soft market or take the 8m and go for UFA next year. Really brooklyn is the only threat to offer that kind of deal and if they do you let him go. Grimes has to go out and get that 20M+ offer if I am the Sixers I am not offering it to him

It's an overpay, but I wouldn't have any issues paying him up to $20M a year four year deal. If he's wanting more than that, then I'd only do it if it's a 2-3 year deal with a team option at the end.

I think he's worth the gamble, but he could very easily be another Jordan Poole type contract as well.

Well, pretty much every player makes generational wealth. Even guys like Davion with 2/24 is generational wealth

Cuz a 76ers who aren't in tank mode and everyone healthy (knock on mode) will never value him 25m a year.

A team like the Hornets can(and should) get him for 20+. The Sixers can't (and shouldn't) pay that.

This is why the Mavs traded him. They were not able to get an early signing, and he wanted more. Then he went berserk with the Sixers. No wonder he is asking for this.
