Frank Vogel is finalizing an agreement to join the Dallas Mavericks as a lead assistant coach under Jason Kidd, sources tell ESPN. The 2020 NBA championship-winning coach is a major addition to the Mavericks staff.

Vogel wasn't exactly "done dirty" by Phoenix. He was overrated and a poor fit in general. Didn't help that the players turned on him and quickly, but some things just aren't a good situation. Durant sure didn't help smooth things over and be a good veteran presence.

If he can manage to contribute in a meaningful way for DAL, good for both him and the team.

Dallas and Houston will dominate the west for the foreseeable future. OKC are pretenders and aren't even as good as a healthy Indiana...

I like Vogel a lot. Done dirty in LA and Phoenix.

If and when Carlisle retires or moves up to the front office. I want Frank back in Indy.

He should have been re-signed, but Bird was a idiot.

Look over your shoulder, perhaps in SA direction. In the glory Jazz days I learned to, like never, underestimate the Spurs. The NBA world history doesn't revolve around Houston or OKC in that neck of the woods - but it does around the Spurs. Just always a little better organized and strategically smarter.

They made that horrible Beal trade right after they hired him, which was an obviously bad roster move for this particular head coach. He proceeded to still make the playoffs then they fired him for a new coach who didn't even make the playoffs the next year with a similar roster.
