Absolute steal. However, I personally would have preferred a longer term deal. If he’s truly ready by start of the season Orlando might have gotten themselves the bargain of the summer.

Does this make him a UFA next off season?

The Magic are known to hold out players much longer than they need to the last couple of years. I doubt Moe is back until January.

Yup. This team will unfortunately look different next season. No way they can afford to bring back the same squad once Paolo’s all NBA contract kicks in.

wow.. he could definitley demand more money on the free market no? probably 10 to 15 range is there for him. but i know he doesnt care about the money. he wants to stay in orlando at all costs. he would have signed a 2 million deal, if that was the only thing they would have offered.

Staying with the Magic keeps Bird rights intact, sets him up for either resign or sign and trade

He has some serious injury concerns. No way he will have a contract if not for his brother.

He tore his ACL and should be back for at least half the season. He was a 6OTY candidate when he got injured. He was playing REALLY well. This is a great deal from the franchise perspective. This CBA is brutal for guys like Moe though.

Underrated player IMO

Good for him to sacrifice money so they could bring on a PG, smart move.

Magic declined 11m team option and is now giving him 5m, so they saved 6m. Pretty good deal for Magic; I wonder why Moe agreed on it.

Guy lives with his younger brother. I mean, Franz went to Michigan because of Moe, they play on the same national team and the same professional team. I'd say they value playing together more than a few extra dollars. And next year when teams have more money, Moe can explore free agency if he so chooses. He's one of the best backup bigs in the league, if not the best from an offensive perspective (I would argue that only Naz Reid or Bobby Portis are better).

I'm liking Orlando's off-season more and more.
