Luka already lost millions of dollars from the Mavs trade.. his player option is coming up and could be an unrestricted free agent if he doesn’t opt in.. Lakers should push for a Luka Doncic MVP campaign imo if they want to keep him long term.. but considering he plays with LeBron James what would Luka have to do to get MVP? And will LeBron buy into the idea of a teammate of his getting MVP and pass that torch per say?

3rd seed or higher while leading the league in scoring should do it, IMO.

Voters can't wait to vote for Luka so they can endlessly write about the Lakers to get those clicks - and there a ton of angles to cover from the ugly Dallas departure angle, LeBron passing baton angle, Lakers new superstar angle, face of the league angle, Luka got in shape serious angle, etc.

Stop whining and bitching to the refs every 2 minutes would go a long way.

But feel like the ship has sailed for Luka to win MVP, and LeBron won't be playing for the Lakers next season either

So who is he going to play for?

He probably comes in as the fav, but its gonna be tough for him to get it over both Shai and Jokic as i think both teams will have a better record than the Lakers with both guys putting up similar/better stats

Luka will never win an MVP as long as he's playing next to Lebron unless Lebron dramatically drops off a cliff and Luka averages like 35 points, which I don't see either happening.

#1 seed in the west, or close #2 seed as the best player with no other comparable players statistically (this'll be rare, because Jokic and SGA will always be up there)

Lead Lakers to 1st in the conference and average a near 30 pt triple double very efficiently

If they didn't gave it to him the yer he made the finals, when he was BY FAR the best player in the league (he was 3rd in votes LOL), it's never happening.

if luka gets lal through a couple of rounds, and barring okc/den somehow imploding it could be done even without a ring

Being on the Lakers will fix that.

If he had that exact same season in LA, he'd be runaway MVP.

Repeat his 23-24 season and get a Top 3 seed. He'll have the voter fatigue advantage against Jokic, Giannis, and SGA even if they retain their level.

Getting in better shape and not being as much of a liability on defense would help, too. Needs to curb the complaining on transitions, also.

He also needs to be healthy; 60-65 games is not good enough.

Lakers has no team, and no assets.

Luka should be moving from there next year.

Top 3 finish with the same numbers he had 2 years ago should do it.

Depends on competition, current MVP competition has been too strong, he already had MVP level seasons, but currently, he will probably need 30/8/8 and 60 wins at least.
