Ayton was not what I would thought he could be

I had a couple bad Jokic takes that I recall, even though I’ve generally been high on him.

- Back in I believe his rookie year I made a post about how the Nuggets were in one of the worst positions in the league, because they didn’t have any blue chip young players and weren’t really tanking for a top pick (that Jokic guy looked good for a rookie 2nd round pick, but he wasn’t a foundational piece or anything…)
- Either right before or early in his first MVP season I compared him to Chris Paul (which I thought was complimentary) as a guy that was obviously really good, that advanced stats loved, but would never be a true superstar and always hover around the 6-10th best player in the league because he just didn’t have the scoring prowess of the best players


I’m sure I’ve had plenty of other terrible takes but others off the top of my head include:
- Buying the Ben Simmons redemption before his first full year in Brooklyn
- Liking Johnny Davis (I think I had him like #5 overall) and hating Jalen Williams in the 2022 draft
- Hated Ant as a prospect, held on to LaMelo being the best player from the 2020 draft for way too long (this one isn’t totally settled yet!)
- Hating the Rudy Gobert trade

A very long time ago, when I was a teenager, I thought Kwame Brown was going to be a lot better than he ever became. Even wrote a Wiretap article about it.

I look back at that as some noteworthy egg on my face which taught me a lot about appreciating mindset over just physical tools.

Well, many I guess, I can't think of worst, but I remember being very against idea of Trading Jonas for rookie Giannis. Random 15 th pick played well for two months, and we talking trading Jonas for that dude, please... Not like it was on a table, but it was popular topic on Raptors board among us Raptor heads and some Bucks guys.

I was sure Lamelo Ball is surefire bust, guarantee. Seemed like a terrible take, but I feel I am back with this one, we went full circle, I am not sure it is bad take anymore.

I was really high on D'Angelo Russell... I am not sure if I posted it on RealGM even, but I remember posting it in one forum, that ''these guys fooled me before, but I feel very good about this one''.

I was very vocal about how much I hated the Bulls trading away Eddy Curry. Turns out it wasn't a big deal.

I was also one of the many Bulls fans in favor of trading Jimmy Butler to blow it up and rebuild. Turns out that's a pretty stupid idea. I remember Brian windhorst being a guest on a popular radio show here being adamantly against it and warning us to be careful what we wish for (was prior to the trade but knew he was being shopped). He said basically that blowing it up, will more likely lead to several years of futility than it will championships. He was right

I think I had sold my entire reputation that Thomas Robinson was going to be a great pro.

Perry Jones III (before Baylor) was a sure thing at the next level.

I was young and was a sucker for "High Ceiling" guys. But I don't think I learned my lesson, because I like Noa Essengue this year

I thought Doc Rivers was a good coach

I thought Ben Simmon's would come back from that playoff game and Doc's comments. Wow...I still can't believe just how bad that's gone.

I thought AD was going to be a bust.

I believed in Bol Bol. Thought he would be what Chet is/will be.

I once said that Jokic was never going to win a ring because of his awful defense.

Pair him up with Gordon and KCP was great roster management.

think I was too harsh on AD, for a guy who hated playing center he bulked up and played the position as a defensive anchor in ways that I'm always surprised how effective it was because they had obvious deficiencies on perimeter D.
