Who will be the first 1 million dollar per game player in the NBA ?

Post#1 » by doogie_hauser » Sat Jul 12, 2025 4:55 am

https://www.espn.com.au/nba/story/_/id/45711806/nba-free-agency-2025-the-first-82m-player

Interesting article from ESPN coming on the heels of Devin Booker's two year extension at the Suns.

I am assuming Minnesots will pay Ant Man the Max will seems likely to trigger the 1 million per game the way salary inflation is going.

It's frightening to imagine how much Wemby will earn once he is eligible for a max extension ..

Haha Dame

I was working out Embiid's per game.

19 played.

$51,415,938 / 19 games ≈ $2,706,102 per game.

Ant already got an extension, he's signed through 2029

Pretty sure he is eligible for another extension next summer (which is what that ESPN article referred to) and I am certain The Wolves would love to lock him away then otherwise all the annoying rumours will start IE Lakers/Knicks/Heat circling etc

$82 million will be 35% of the salary cap when the cap is 234.3 million, so we're still a bit away from a full season million per game contract.

As Mark Cuban said, we'll shortly be entering a world where some players are more cash rich than the owners.

At this point, it's better long-term to be an agent to the high profile players. A new-age Rich Paul getting 4% off every one of these deals* is a pretty solid investment.

I think getting around 65M would be enough to qualify for that, with the load management.

It's kinda already happened, but still an interesting thought experiment.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

I dont see a problem with this. Which fan is paying to see a specific owner?

Rockets John Wall has to be up there, both in total earnings for games missed. And per missed game averages

$85+ Million and 124 games missed over two seasons I believe based on BBref

I'm pretty sure Curry, Bron, Giannis, and KD all made more than that last season if you include endorsements. Curry signed a huge deal with Under Armour; he is probably at or close to 2 million per game.
