Via Hoopshype/ESPN:Victor Oladipo last appeared in an NBA game in 2023 with the Miami Heat, when he tore his left patellar tendon in a playoff game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The two-time All-Star, 33, was part of a well-attended private workout in Las Vegas on Monday morning, with a large contingent of NBA and European teams attending. Oladipo played full-court five-on-five in a group workout of international pros.
Multiple team sources in attendance came away impressed, with Oladipo described as being in excellent shape as he pursues another comeback.

What is he like 33 or 34 years old? If he is willing to be a team player I think he can be serviceable in the right system. Teams need to rely on him and that hasn't been the case since he was 25 years old.
He has turned down roughly $150m over the years from the Heat and Pacers.

The last time he played more than 42 games was in 2018. He sucked a lot of ass in his half-season with Miami in 2023.
He's toast. This is like the usual John Wall comeback stuff. He might play some games, but the odds of him being any good are pretty low. He's been dog-ass for more than his last 100 games in the league. That's not apt to change much from not playing the game for two years and being deeper into his 30s. Hell, he was crap in 2019 in a season where he was mystifyingly selected to the All-Star game.
This is going no place remarkable.

Reminds me of when Dion Waiters held an open workout at a middle school to attempt his comeback lol obviously no one offered him a contract.

At least Oladipo was better than Dion Waiters back when he was decent.

This is text book case of you never know what's around the corner, and maximise your value while you can. Turning down big money while you have all-star status was a big folly.
His case was worse then Nerlens Noel and Schröder imo.

My guess is there was a free buffet and it attracted the C level scouts...or maybe there were exotic dancers present.

Nerlens was almost comical, because he wasn't even NBA material at the time. Oladipo betted on himself like most would, but didn't realize his body wasn't built for big minutes in the NBA.
Definitely worse than Schröder, I agree, since Schröder redeemed himself and at least earned some of that money back.

He was really good when he was actually healthy, would have made an excellent role player on a title team.

When a player is out of the game for multiple years and was also poor before taking a break, there's a lot they have to do to get back to full-season fitness. It's a grind, he's obviously been training but that's from the comfort of his own home, and bed, not on the road for 6 months, and not fighting younger players trying to not lose their roster spot.
A 10-day or something, rest-of-season, or a vet min (that's the max) contract is all I would see (10-day retirement tour with Indiana, for example)
I looked at his career service, it is at 10 years, so he doesn't need 1 more to get NBA pension, he's got it. Vic, go enjoy your life brotha.

When is the last time one of these type of comebacks worked?

Jordan with Washington, I'd imagine, though that wasn't injury-prompted.
Derrick Rose had a pretty viable career after. He was a journeyman, he didn't play a lot of games, but he made it work for like a decade.

Nerlens was a the worst by far because he never actually earned a big NBA paycheck. Oladipo made way more in his career and Shroeder at least hung round long enough to recoup some of the money he turned own. I never thought DS would sign a $40m deal again.

Not saying he will work out but:
- Miami was loving his contribution up until he got his last injury. He was a great spark once he got his rhythm.
- I saw videos of him a while back and he does look fit as hell.
He might still have something to give. He was a good two way player.
